Edelbrock 8881 waterpump

I got one for free from a friend of mine along with a bunch of other things. Said it wasn't working but Edelbrock could rebuild it. Called Edelbrock to confirm and they would for $75.00...

I'm just wondering if it's worth it. Is it an upgrade over the stocker or just a replacement? Mine is working fine but if this one is better I might pursue getting it back to good. If it's no better than the stock pump I'll just use this thing as a paperweight.

That water pump is a Victor Series aluminum and it's $213 new.....I would have it rebuilt and keep for a spare .

Re: Edelbrock 8881 waterpump

I don't really care about the value of it new... most of Edelbrock's cost is in the name anyway... All I want to know is it better than the stock water pump?

Re: Edelbrock 8881 waterpump

It weighs less and is "supposed to have a more balanced flow to the left and right side of the motor.
Never had any issues with mine but I'm going to send it in for a rebuild because it has over 100k on it.
