Oil cooling sandwich
Hey I have 88 w/ 305 and I was thinking about putting a oil cooler on it. So the question is what are the size threads and stuff I should be looking for. Thanks for your help

Re: Oil cooling sandwich
If it’s a automatic then I would consider a transmission fluid cooler over the engine oil cooler.
I had both and I ended up removing the engine oil cooler for two reasons.
1) It did its job to well. Even though the sandwich adapter only let the oil flow when it hit 180* I found that it pretty much stayed at that temperature (laser temp gun used) and that’s not hot enough for me so it was overkill. If your road racing all the time you might be ok with it.
2) Removing the engine oil from the cooler and lines when you change your oil is next to imposable so when the sandwich adapter opens that old oil in the cooler and lines re contaminates the new.
Get a nice transmission oil cooler and mount it in a good location. As long as your transmission is not ready to quit on you this cooler is known to extend its life cycle.
I have a fan mounted on mine.
