I have a gemlin

I have an problem with the car not running. I have had the problem 2 times now over the past 3 months. The car will turn over just fine but won't fire. The car runs great and it is a DD so i don't think it is mechanical. When it happens I have spark, fuel pressure and combustion, The injectors do not fire. I tested with a noid light and nothing, one quick flash when the key is turned and thats it. When I got to the 6th injector the light started blinking and the car fired up.
I pulled the distrubutor cap and from what I can tell the mechanical trigger for the injectors seams to be fine, no wobble of the shaft also. I ordered a new ICM, that looks to be the electrical part that sends the signal to the ECM.The plugs on the back were tight. I have checked ground wires and the seam to be tight. it usually just starts back up after anywhere from 10 min. to an hr so i don't think it is the ground. Last is the ECM itself. Could this be the source of a intermittent issue? if so would it be the unit itself or the plug in prom/calpack. I noticed they are sold seperatly. Could there be something else I could be missing. It is a 5.0 TPI engine.

Thanks for any help on this.

Stock injectors? Coils are shorting out preventing them from firing. #6 injector is likely the worst. Replace the injectors.

Yes they are stock/original injectors. The coil you are talking about, is that the spark coil to the distributor or are there internal coils in the injector? Also what I meant by the 6th injector was that none of them were blinking on the noid light, it was just a coinsidence that the car fired up before I got done testing all of them.

The injector coils are shorting. Once enough of them bring the total resistance low enough the ECM can't fire any of them. All 8 injectors are wired in parallel on the one ECM driver.

Thanks Rob. Do you have any recommendations on what injectors to use? My engine is stock with no mods. The smog pump has been removed and that's it.

South Bay Injectors is a TGO sponsor and carries all kinds of Bosch re-man injectors. The fat body injectors are a direct fit:

There is also the narrow body injectors:

However they don't have the groove for the retaining clips.
