Success in getting data from 1228079
1987 Formula Base LG4-305 CCC
I finally found the cure to the problem of trying to connect to Ecm 1228079 to receive real time data. I cant tell you how long I have been trying. GM used this ecm on the 87 and 88 Firebirds and some Chevies.
I believe most OBD 1 cars send data out on either pin E or M. Looking at my connector for the 1987 Firebird, there is no pin for either E or M.
I found out that on some select years, Pontiac sent the data out on pin D. I really don't know which models or years.
The solution was right in from of my eyes all along. Here is the ads file that I used from Tuner Pro converting to .adx. It says pin "D".
A007
LG8/L69 85, LB1/LF3/LS9 85-86, LV2/LG4 85-87, LM1 85-88 160 BAUD, PIN D, USE A 10K
I modified my ALDL cable to accept data from pin D and patched it over the wire for pin E.
I tried it first on Tuner Pro Ver 4 and then Ver 5 and they both worked great. I then tried it on Sebastien Giroux's android app, ALDLdroid, and it works just fine with that app.
I am able to see data with my Snap-On 2500 and it tells me that I have prom 7130. Tuner Pro and ALDLdroid tell me the same thing.

Siuol,
Thanks for posting this information... I have given up trying to make my 1987 IROC talk to the laptop through TunerPro so this may be useful information. I had a couple tuners trying to help me but I just couldn't seem to make the car talk to the computer even though the snap-on scanner could see everything.
Now that it's getting cold I might start to play with it again.

I now have it working on tuner-pro ver 4 and 5 and my android app.
Gotta love this site for information sharing.
