MEMCAL and ESC

Hey everyone. I am new to this board and have some TBI swap questions.

I have a harness for a 1227747 computer with the ESC module in the wire harness. I also have two 1227747 computers with EPROMs. I haven’t purchased my EPROM burning hardware yet and I want to go with an EEPROM. I recently purchased a 16197427 computer from a 95 350 truck with the MEMCAL and built in ESC.

Can I get an EEPROM for the 16197427 and use it with my old style harness and kill two birds with one stone and eliminate the external ESC and the need for a UV eraser?

What EEPROM should I use if I can use one? Or, can I get an adapter to go from the 1227747 EPROM to a MEMCAL and use it that way?

Are there any drawbacks tuning wise to using the less popular 16197427?

Thanks

The 427 is a PCM, and expects a much different VSS signal then the 747. You'd have to find a hac and see if there is a switch in the code to toggle VSS types.

Other then dropping all the tranny diagnostics, and VSS I think it would be a novel idea.

Just contact Moates for the adapter and EEPROMs if you can get around the 427s issues.

Thanks for the reply.

I am running a non-computer controlled tranny and no speed sensor, for now anyways, so I will need to eliminate all of that. Is it likely that I will be able to disable that in the PCM?
