Length of erase time....
I am using the 27c256 eproms. Just curious how long it takes for these chips to be fully erased? Also, I have a memcal with a zif socket and the adaptor to burn the eprom on the memcal. I am using the PP burner. When I do a blank check with the eprom on the memcal, it detects some data. However, when I do a blank check with the same eprom removed from the memcal and placed solely on the programmer it sees no data and thinks it is erased. This is after I just erased the eprom....well, at least I think it's erased. Any advice on this? TIA!

David,
It takes me about 10-13 minutes to erase my 27C256 EPROMs. If you are having problems with the EPROM while it is in the ZIF then I would check the continuity of all the pins. There are only two sources for the problem ...
The ZIF to MemCal pins
and
The EPROM to ZIF connection
If the ZIF is new then I would doubt that it is the ZIF to EPROM connection. It is most likely the ZIF to MemCal connection.

Actually, I am having problems with the eproms by themself. I just got started with this stuff last night so I am new to all.
I had placed the memcal in the burner, read and saved the image to a file. Then I replaced that eprom with another one on the memcal, and then programmed the eprom with the same file. Seemed to work ok. Now tonight, I tried to erase the eprom, and program it soley on the burner. It kept coming back with an error. May not be getting a full erase I guess. Any thoughts!
