HELP! EPROM will not erase

I've had my Hypertech EPROM in the UV eraser for about 24 hrs total. First try was about 1 hour. Then I tried to program it. The pocket programmer on a blank check said that the EPROM was not erased.

I checked that the light bulb comes on, it does. I put the EPROM back in the eraser for about 4 hours on each side and it still did not erase according to the procket programmer.

This EPROM has two circular spots on both sides, but no square or rectangular window.
I did remove the tag on the top side of the EPROM.

What can be wrong here?
TIA

If there is no quartz window on the EPROM then it is not an EPROM ... but, a PROM. If it has no quartz window then you CANNOT erase it. Go to the link in my article all the way at the bottom that discusses how EPROMs/PROMs/EEPROMs work.

I agree with Traxion; now "windo" means it is not a Eraseable EPROM. Sorry to hear that; but I am finding that many of these aftermarket "chip manufacturers" are very inconsistent on how they do the chips.

I know that with ADS some people have a removable chip, while others (like me) has theirs soldered in.

Time to "unsolder" the chips and replace it with a ZIF socket.

Pocket Programmer expects an erased chip to be all 00's, some chips erase to FF's. So while erased, Pocket Programmer doesn't see them as erased. Get another EPROM, and try. GM EPROMs are really bad for this..
