Datalogging with a V6?
Hi all, looking to view 160 baud data via a laptop using winaldl. Its an 89 firebird V6. I'm not sure what ECM or PROM I have, just that they are stock. How do I find these out? More importantly where is the ECM (LOL). Do I just look at it and find a number?

Your ECM should be the 1227302. It is located under the dash above where the passenger feet are. The above number will be on it as the 'service #.'
For logging WinALDL should work. Someplace, somewhere should also be the definition file for the ALDL stream. This is used to convert the ECM data to human readable data.
RBob.

Thank you Rbob, you answered my noob question with aplomb. I'll verify the service # and get to work building my interface.

Re: Datalogging with a V6?
Have you tried this entry:
1986 2.8 litre MPI 1986 2.8 litre MPI
Not sure if that is for the f-body ECM or one of the FWD ECMs. Joby didn't list that.
TunerPro has support for the $3A mask.
