IAC slow to change idle speed
I am having the problem lately of the idle hanging higher than it should be. like coming to a stop light it i can feel it still trying to push the car and the downshifts are a bit hard. Also when i take it out of drive it will rev up to 1100 quickly then slowly go back down to about 750. I haven't changed anything in the idle settings other than lowering the idle speed at a little colder temps down to 575. I am not sure if it is more of software issue or hardware but its making drivability go down and its my daily driver. i am running a modified ARAP bin. any ideas?

Re: IAC slow to change idle speed
thats what i was thinking, a dirty IAC. its really been doing it the last couple days and i just got done with finals so i haven't had time to look at it yet, i will take a look and report back. what do you mean about an IAC filter?

Well speed is not always a good thing. If the IAC is moving too quickly from position to position it may mahe the idle erratic. In your case it is hanging. The flare up with start of car is normal but it should "decay" very soon. It may be the speed of decay is too slow. I belience the filters speed up or slow down the event. I dont have my laptop available so look at the IAC constants and tables to see what is available.

Re: IAC slow to change idle speed
Sounds like more of a mechanical problem, I would compare some old datalogs, keep an eye on the iac steps and temp, also make sure there no vacuum leak. In any case changing the deadband would change the response time.
