TunerPro V5 & $8D Mask & WBO2 Setup

Hi Guys,

I am attempting to get TunerPro V5 to see the Moates AutoProm ADC channels.

The goal is to datalog my WBO2 sensors.

When using the TunerPro "AutoProm AD Interface" tool, I can see that the WBO2 input voltages are digitized correctly. The problem is the Dash does not display the proper AFR.

I tried setting up TunerPro with the $8D WBO2 document that was written before TunerPro V5. There must be a configuration problem.

Help!

Best Regards,

Bruce

Re: TunerPro V5 & $8D Mask & WBO2 Setup

Hi Guys,

An update for you.

I am working with an AUJP BIN.

I am using a GM 7730 ECM with the $8D mask.

The ECM interface is an older Moates AutoProm. This version has an external board and cable to interface into the 3 ADC channels.

My goal is to properly configure the above setup to data log the standard ECM output parameters and the two WBO2 sensors.

Here are my original thoughts in getting this system going.

The ECM Payload size is 63 bytes starting with 1.

Normalizing to zero “start” changes the above number to 62.

Treating each ADC channel as two bytes would result in the following Packet Offsets.

ADC Channel “A” : 63.
ADC Channel “B” : 65.
ADC Channel “C” : 67

I am not sure how the physical ADC channels (1, 2, and 3) “map” to the Packet Offset (A, B, C)?

From a hardware set-up, all of the connections have been verified.

The Drivers side WBO2 is physically connected to the ADC Port labeled #1.

The Passenger side WBO2 is physically connected to the ADC Port labeled #2.

The TunerPro “AutoProm A/D Data” utility verified that my hardware connections were as intended. I am connected to Input 1 and Input 2. The digitized voltages appear correct.

I have Moates “O-Meter(s)” as a dash based WBO2 display. Therefore, I am able to compare the actual WBO2 output to the WBO2 displayed in TunerPro RT.

The equations to convert from the Digitized Voltage to the equivalent AFR are verified.

After much fooling around, I was able to get the TunerPro RT Dash and data-logging to include the WBO2 data.

Drivers Side WBO2 Packet Offset : 69. This allowed me to “see” the correct WB AFR on the TunerPro Dash.

Passenger Side WBO2 Packet Offset : 67. This allowed me to “see” the correct WB AFR on the TunerPro Dash.

Payload Size : 69. This enabled the file based data log to store the WBO2 data.

Does this set-up make sense?

How do the AutoProm ADC channels get mapped to the TunerPro Packet Offset parameters?

How does the TunerPro Payload Size effect how much data is saved in the log file?

I am sure someone on this board has solved this puzzle. Some smart folks here.

Would like to understand why my setup works.

Best Regards,

Bruce

Re: TunerPro V5 & $8D Mask & WBO2 Setup

The way you set up the ADC data in the data stream offsets makes sense. My understanding is that the ADC channels are tacked onto the end of the ALDL stream packet.

So the 63 bytes of ALDL data is first, then the 6 bytes of ADC channel data. Not sure how the packet checksum is handled. It may be ignored , or it may include the ADC data and is at the very end of the packet.

RBob.

Re: TunerPro V5 & $8D Mask & WBO2 Setup

Hi Guys,

Attached is a TunerPro RT ADX file that is set-up for Dual WBO2 devices.

Hope it helps those to avoid the issues I had during the set-up phase.

Best Regards,

Bruce

Hi RBob,

The dual WBO2 devices are your TT-1 design.

They work great!

Best Regards,

Bruce
