Car: 1991 Z-28
Engine: 383 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 2.73
355 or 383 for tuneability?
Gonna put a tuned port 355 or 383 in my 91 z28. I have never done any programming, etc... but I expect to after the motor is built and installed.
My question is does it really matter if the engine is a 355 or 383 from a tuning perspective. Seems I have seen some guys on here that never seem to get the tune right with stroker motors. Is it that much easier with a 355?
I'd rather know my obstacles now...before I start into this... thanks.

The factory TPI will limit HP unless it's modified. Larger injectors are probably needed - but don't "oversize". Exhaust size needs to be considered.
Tuning - perhaps it's not the displacement size as much as the modifications to the engine - cam selection can affect driveability (big cam - low vacuum).
I think a mistake is made when guys build for really high HP not anticipating how it can affect driviability. Don't get carried away with throwing away the emission controls - they actually don't consume much HP and if you live in an area that requires testing as I do it has to be in place.
I have a 383 in my 92 Firebird convertible. The cam is a 280 XFI but as this is "Saturday Night Cruiser" a milder cam would have been fine.
Look at a "First Fuel Injection" TPI system probably cheaper than modifing the factory system and Ken is good to work with.
As my car was originally a TBI car I had to modify the wiring harness - get a factory service manual it's a big help.
I use Dynamic EFI's EBL P4 for my ECM - the "VE learn" feature is a big help. There is a seprate forum in this site for EBL with lots of info and Rbob is good about support.
