VATS Won't Disable?
Just got my Ostrich and s_aujp 5 just dropped...awesome! I've been waiting on my Ostrich to disable VATS rather than using physical methods. Loaded up the new bin using the accompanying mask etc in tunerpro. Unset the VATS flag, saved and uploaded it the ostrich. I tested it by trying my remote start. No bueno. Put the key in the ignition, hit the remote start and it works.
Am I missing a step? Isn't it as simple as unchecking the flag and writing the bin?

Re: VATS Won't Disable?
The ECM outputs a signal to the VATS module that controls the starter kill relay (as I understand it).
If VATS is disabled in the bin, I guess it doesn't output the signal to the module, I thought it still did and just ignored the input from the key resistor.
If it does not then... V5.1 suggestion already!
Nevermind, I'm brain farting this morning...
VATS is first module reading the key and turning on the start relay.
VATS module outputs into the ECM to allow injectors to fire.
Thats what flipping the bit does.
ECM can't jump the relay, You must do that (or the remote start can)

Thanks for the help. I'll report back on my progress.

Re: VATS Won't Disable?
VATs has nothing to do with the fuel pump or relay for it. The only thing the ECM does when it doesn't get the correct VATs signal, is to not fire the injectors.

You ever get so focused on something that you lose sight of what you were doing in the first place?

Thank you Tuned Performance for your help. RBob, please edit the thread as you see fit. I get where you're coming from but it seems to me this info should either be allowed or not. $hitty comments just seem unnecessary.

Re: VATS Won't Disable?
I can't edit the Tech-General-Engine board here. And trust me, it isn't a shitty comment, it is the truth. Early on in this thread I gave you the direction to go. The other thread has way too much information in it.
I've also heard from Tuned that he claims this info is all over the 'net, so why the big deal. Well, easy, if it is all over the 'net then why all the folks on TGO asking how to defeat it?
The VATs systems in these cars have saved many of them from being stolen.

I deleted my posts on the thread link. I don't know if this explains too much aswell .
