ecm chip dead

So, from a rough idle and stalling on my sons 1987 camaro 2.8 mpfi to breaking of a leg on the ecu chip. Question now is can i upgrade this ecm to one that can be flash programed and should it stay as an obd1 or can it be converted to obd2. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Future of car will probably be engine swap to LS engine but need vehicle to be operational in mean time.

Re: ecm chip dead

If the plan is to LS swap it later just get a factory replacement and call it a day. No point in spending a bunch of money on something that you won't be reusing in the long term.

Also, what do you mean by "leg"? Did you break a pin off?
