ERROR DTC 51?? please help

Hey guys,

I've got three memcals and two of them will not work in the car. All three of the chips will read, write, and compare to buffer fine. It's just that 2 of them do not want to work inside the car. When you put the car in diagnostics mode (with paperclip) it holds a steady SES light and fans on. You then have to put the known good chip in to get the 51 DTC code out.

I'm programing with a PP2 and tunercat and erasing with a dataerase2. I'm using spare stock memcals and the chips that came with them. I"m also using the 28 pin header to connect the memcal to my programmer. THe car is a 93 LT1 speed density (came with 27c256). Oh and I'm burning the chips with 12.5 volts.

What could wrong with these memcals??

Are you sure they are the right Memcal? What you are experiencing is exactly what would happen if you re-burned a $8D SD TPI BIN for a 730 on a Memcal intened for a 3.1 V6. Yes, the eprom will accept the programming, but the ESC circuitry is wrong.

yep

yep it passes the "verify blank" test.

you can put it in at anytime and read off the chip perfect data. I've read it on a few occasions and opened it with tunercat and found good numbers and graphs.
