NJ SPEEDER

You read that right!!!! The NJFBOA and Island Dragway will be getting back together in 2015 in a big way with the return of the East Coast F-body Nationals!!!!

Obviously since we are looking all the way into next year we don't have many (really anything) set in stone. So with that in mind let me hear what you all have in mind. What car show classes do you want to see? What racing classes would spark participation? What kinds of sponsors/vendors are you interested in seeing? What would spark those of you that would have to travel some distance making your way to north western Jersey for a day of action?

Once we get a few more things set the primary planning will of course be shown on NJFBOA.org but I will be sure to keep things here as up to date as possible. If you want to be on the NJFBOA mailing list that will always include the lastest and greatest about this and other club event planning just sign up at NJFBOA.org It's free and will be growing throughout 2015 with lots of new and helpful features!!!!

well, this makes me very happy since I live only 12 minutes away from Island Dragway. I was sad when the local Nj event got rained out this years (twice) as I was planning on attending (both times)

It's been a few years since the East Coast Nats have been at Island, but I had a great time every time I've gone. obviously for show classes you have got to plan on doing a separate class for each generation of cars. You can probably end up splitting that up into classes for each generation stock ... and then each generation modified. If I remember in the past, you also had classes for best engine compartment, best interior, best stereo setup, etc. Keep those IN too. Maybe a class for specialty/rare cars, or heritage cars too. Depending on turnout, maybe could split up camaros and firebirds too, but that might get a bit too wide in range of classes.

I'll do whatever I can to align my work schedule to attend ...once a date is set of course.

As soon as Island posts their 2015 schedule we will let everyone know so they can plan.

For the show, we basically want to have as many awards as attendance and sponsors can support. Hope to see everyone out there. With things settled down at the track and in the club we will have a solid year of planning so we can get back to the big event it used to be.

Def will be driving up from the Jersey Shore as long as its a Saturday. I have a friend that lives in Pompton lakes which isnt far from there... My suggestion would be to have the show during the day and teh drag racing at night....

Small update, the tracks around the region have been sluggish publishing their major events schedules to one another and that has delayed us getting our date squared away. That being said we are likely looking at something early fall.

I have a meeting with track management this weekend and expect to be able to start providing regular updates and solid information in the coming week.

Insomiac, it's an all day deal. As soon as the gates open we start parking cars in the show field and shortly after we call the racers to the lanes for time shots.

We have our date, just ironing out a few basics and we will be ready to start making major announcements.
