If I remove the fuel pump fuse, will the fuel level gauge still work???
Hey guys, I am in the process of trying to find some type of parasitic drain on the battery. I am at the point now where I want to start getting rid of fuses for any electrical systems that are redundant in my car. I have an 88 that was a V6 MPFI, but now is a V8 carb'd. Anyway, I don't have an electrical fuel pump anymore, so I can get rid of the fuel pump fuse. But I am afraid that if I do that the fuel level gauge won't work. Unfortunatley, all of the dash gauges are ripped out of the car because I am going to make my own panel with all Autometer gauges so it's not like I can just pull the fuse out and check the fuel level. So does anyone know if it will still work? Thanks in advance for any replies to this thread, Paul Moore

Hello Paul,
There per-se isn't a fuse for the fuel pump other than the one for the fuel pump relay that is located near the battery. Some of the earlier models had one but the newer models don't. If you still have the sending unit in the fuel tank, the guage gets its readings by OHM resistance thru the pink wire to the guage. It isn't electrically powered.

Excellent, thank you! I was just looking at the fuse block under the driver's side dash and saw a fuse for fuel. When I identified it with the owner's manual, it said the fuse was for injectors/fuel pump. I don't have either anymore so I figured that it would be wise to get rid of it. Thanks for the info, Paul Moore
