INF rest light
I know this topic has probably been talked about but a small twist. I have a 1991 RS and when i start the car the "INF rest" blinks 3 times like its supposed to, but then it stays on. Its supposed to go out. I'm not sure if this is a big problem or what its means. Anyone have any input on what the problem is? or how to fix it? anyone experienced this before?

Re: INF rest light
The flashing of the light and then staying on solid is telling you that there is a problem with the air bag system. The light should come on solid when you start the car or turn on the ignition and then go out after a few seconds. Could be a few different problems causing the light to stay on. Most common would be the clock spring in the steering column since this gets the most wear from turning the steering wheel all the time. Other things would be the crash sensor in the front bumper area, wiring or air bag module. Not forsure if the seat belt retractors are part of the system like they are in new cars. You would need to run the codes for the air bag system to find out where the problem is.

Re: INF rest light
I have the same issue with my Firebird. I figure mine is on permanently because of the aftermarket steering wheel the previous driver installed.
Also, the letters probably stand for INFLATABLE RESTRAINT, right?

Re: INF rest light
Yeah, its stands for inflatable restraint. Your light would be on because of the aftermarket steering wheel.
