Battery/Starter/Alternator Wiring
Hey guys I just have a simple question that I'm sure has just flown over my head. I'm replacing the wiring in my 1985 Camaro and I've gotten to the battery cables. The positive cable that connects to the starter has a "fusible link" in it with two wires coming out besides the 4 gauge battery cable. One wire was connected to the backside of the alternator and the other was a tan wire with a connector that connected to its other half. I'm not sure what the tan wire is for and would like to know if anyone sells the battery cable with a fusible link in it already or how I go about splicing a link in the cable. I have a picture of how my wires were connected. The red arrow shows where the PO spliced the positive cable with that red section to make the cable longer and the section with the fusible link. The blue arrow is the fusible link, the purple arrow is the wire to the back of the alternator, and the green arrow is the end of the tan wire with the connector. Any help on replacing and improving this setup would be much appreciated!
