very odd symptoms..
hello all, i have recently joined after acquiring a 1986 iroc z, it is my first sports car and i am in the process of getting it all ready for inspection, and i am having very odd symptoms with the turn signals. i will list the whole order of operations shortly but i want to state the condition i have now:
*rear hazards work
*All running lights work
*turn signals do not work anywhere
* turn signal indicators on dash do not work
now for the order or repairs/ work i have done, it goes:
Yesterday upon deciding to attempt repairs, all running lights, hazards and turn signals worked with exception to the turn signal- passenger front only. We replaced the bulbs and no change. Then replaced flasher fuze. Then decided to try to find the fail in wiring. We went to the drivers side of the supply loom and rung out the circuit with an ohms meter. The finding was the circuit was good on all three wires supplying the lights, from that point on, black brown and blue. We then decided to go up into the dash. Found the cluster, pulled it apart and cleaned it, re assembled and still same situation After a closer inspection we concluded that there were previous attempts at fixing wires.
Deciding to just re assemble and move on in the short term we now have made a few steps back, after a good 20 hrs of work with me and my dad..

Did you check the flasher/turn signal relay? It's a small dome shaped thing in the convenience center (to the right of the steering column)

There are two flashers. One is for the turn signals. The other is for the hazards.
The hazard flasher is in the Convenience Center. The turn signal flasher is mounted on a clip attached to one of the dash board brackets near the Convenience Center.

Re: very odd symptoms..
sorry for the slow response, very busy with work these days. anyways i had replaced the flashers, and the fuse in the fuse block, and the bulbs, and even a length of wire to the flasher and i come to find out the previous owner had damaged the connector that goes from the steering column to the wiring leading through through the firewall into the engine bay and so on, i found that the plastic housing itself had become brittle and no longer is able to clamp or close properly so i had applied zip ties and seemed to have fixed it, does one know where to find a new or new old stock steering column adapter for the wire cluster leading to the blinker?

You will probably need to go pull them out of a car at a junkyard, or you could try asking someone on the classifieds for what you need.
