Rat infested Camaro Nightmare
I'm restoring this 89 Camaro 2.8 for my neighbor kid. I unplugged the EST bypass to set the timing. When I did the fuel pump died. Did I burn out the relay? Should I have shut the car down before unplugging it?

Yes you should have started the car, let it warm up. Cut it off, diconnect the plug then start it again. Now with a light, set the timing to desired degrees, cut car off, connect plug again. Start car to verify it's running good. That's the procedure for setting base timing.

Thanks, some useful info. Now please help me to get the pump to restart, the pump is new, the fuse is good, and I replaced the relay, but no pump yet.

Fixing His rat Motor
To test the relay and pump simultaneously use a spare piece of wire and jump the orange wire to the green wire with the white stripe.

Thank you very much, I'll give it a try. Unfortunately I'm in the hospital right now, but should get out tomorrow, and will get on it ASAP
