Oil pressure switch with guage part # V6 to V8 Swap

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has a part # for a new oil pressure switch with guage (3 wire) on a 90-92 intrument cluster? I've read that the V6's ran a higher oil pressure than the V8's. I want to swap my 0-60psi gauge for the 0-80psi gauge from a spare instrument cluster. Basically my gauge is pegged all the way (0-60psi gauge). I just recently started my rebuilt motor and my oil pressure sender is leaking at the distributor. I would like to get rid of the one wire pressure sender at the distributor and swap the two wire pressure switch at the oil filter with the later model 3 wire switch with gauge unit.

These are the part numbers I came up with:

ACDelco - 10096199
Standard Motor Products - PS236

I understand that I need the 0-80psi switch/gauge for this to work. I just don't want to purchase the wrong pressure switch...Can anybody confirm this for me? Thanks!

Re: Oil pressure switch with guage part # V6 to V8 Swap

Well, I decided to buy a new oil pressure switch and go from there. It's a 3 prong switch from an 89 V6 Camaro. I thought I would try and hook it up to air pressure and see what the reading would be on the oil pressure gauge. What I bought was a BWD oil pressure switch part # S4087.
I switched my oil pressure gauge to the 0-80psi gauge from the spare cluster that I had and after hooking up the electrical to the switch with 60psi (Air Pressure) I noticed that my gauge was reading just below 40psi.
Now I was wondering how accurate the gauge was? I managed to hook up the 3 prong OPS to air pressure with pipe fittings and the 5v reference to the switch from the gauge with the body of the switch grounded to the battery.
This told me that the switch I bought was working. I thought I would make the gauge more accurate by removing the gauge needle, setting my air pressure to 40psi and reflect that on the gauge by positioning the needle to read that.
Just out of curiosity I wanted to hook up my old oil pressure sender to see what it would read on the 0-80psi gauge. Immediately after hooking up the air, the gauge went to 80psi. Damn...This whole situation started because I had high oil pressure at idle! I figured that because my motor was rebuilt with a high volume oil pump and I just did the break-in period that 60psi was normal...far from it!
After two days of testing the new OPS and setting the needle on the 0-80psi gauge multiple times, I realized that my original OPS was about 25psi out!
Setting the needle to read 40psi is accurate now. When I shut the ignition off the needle does not go to zero but does go to the low pressure red zone.
I guess I can't have it all but a least I know it will read properly when the engine is idling.
I wish I had taken pictures of what the gauges were reading when I was testing but I'm not very good at documenting stuff, so sorry!
I hope this helps someone though...I may even consider getting a GM oil pressure switch to see if it would go to zero with the ignition off and read idle oil pressure somewhat accurately...Anyway, good luck Thirdgen's!
