Reverse Wiring Circuit
Car is a 1987 IROC original 5.0 TPI 5 Speed. Swapped in a LQ9/T56
Trying to figure out where I splice the reverse lights into. Checked out the C100 Diagram and it only lists the Back Up Lights for (L4 Vin 2). Maybe I'm just reading it wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
Don't have to splice or otherwise hack anything. Just plug the original backup light plug into the backup light switch on the transmission.

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
I didn't realize the T5 and T56 shared the same plug. I got the car as a roller and bought a C100 out of a V6 car.

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
x2 with Sofa.
On an 87 TPI manual car (not sure about the other years and options), the two backup wires (light green and blue) pass through the C200? C207? connector by the ECM. It is a six wire plug, and two of other wires are the pink(w/ black?) power leads for the injectors.
It should be obvious, an automatic car does not need the backup light switch wires to exit the cabin... they run to the automatic shifter in the console.

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
Thanks for the help. Started the build with no underhood wiring. The C207 diagram here doesn't list the reverse wiring either. What would be my next best plan of attack.

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
AustinThirdgen has the body wiring diagram and shows the back up lights. Doesn't look like it goes into engine compartment so not gonna be shown in those connectors. Looks to be interior wiring from fuse panel to reverse switch to lights. HTH!

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
The reverse light wiring on your 87 T5 car should be on C221...... the 6 pin plug near dash-to-ECM 'C207' conector that MoeJoe described.
1986 & 1987 C207 ( TPI )
PIN Color From / To (Notes)
A Brn ALDL / ECM (AIR control)
B Red ALDL / Fuel Relay ( TPI )
C Brn/Wht ECM / CE Light ( TPI )

E Wht/Blk ALDL / ECM (test)
F Pnk/Blk IGN fuse / EGR-ECM
G Pnk/Blk Gage Fuse / Burn Off Relay ( TPI )
H Tan/Blk ALDL / TCC-ECM
J Org ALDL / ECM ( TPI )
K Brn ECM / Speed Buffer
L Tan/Wht Fuel Relay / Fuel Pump ( L69 )

Here is the C100 schematic from the 87 Camaro shop manual,....
That should help !!

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
My mistake. In the 87 Camaro manual, the auto backup wires go to C207... I assume that is the auto shifter, because there is no other plug in the circuit. Later years it looks like C207 was over by the ECM with a different purpose.
My 87 manual has C221 routing the backup lights in the 6 cavity plug with the 2x injector fused lines...
From Pocket...
C207/C221
3rd gen under dash connectors, these contain most of the fuse wires and a few gauge functions like MIL and speedo
Left is dash side C207, notice its two connectors. Middle C221 (if equipped), right engine side C207
"problem im having is only a handful of models got the C221 connector. IIRC 86-88 Irocs and maybe V6's. But its in the connector that STOCK inj fuses, back up lights, and fan fuses connect to."
More detailed information on C207/C221 through the years... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ml#post5740453

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
John in RI is correct on the C221. They were used in all 85-87 Fbodys regardless of drivetrain. Pinouts changed from engine to engine, but they all had one
You really need to check a service manual or alldata for the particulars of those years as delphi wasnt very consistent. Check out the back-up lights for 85 for a good example. 4cyl went through the C100, 6 cyl/TPI C221, V8 carb C207
MoJoe, you're close. V6/TPI both go through the C221, carb V8's go through the C207
Thankfully, delphi began to standardize their wiring 88-92
Non of these back-up wires will be present if the car or donor harness were originally automatic. In that case, find the old auto shifter connector. Middle two 18ga wires or the 6 present are back-up lights

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
Got the reverse lights working. The harness I had was from a V6 auto. I had to depin the grey connector and pin into B and F which correspond to the green and blue wires from the connector under the dash by the ECM. Inserting a small flat screwdriver will release the pin and you can slide it out.
Just splice the two wires to the reverse switch and you should be good to go!

Re: Reverse Wiring Circuit
I re-pin everything possible, must have re-pinned a dozen plugs in the last week alone. I'd be Soooo lost without my tiny screwdriver !!
P.S.
That had to deal with that mess during my first T5 conversion !!!
