95 to 92 Keyless Entry Mod

I have checked all the threads but didn't seem to find a discussion on the best place to locate the module in a 92. I know that it has to mount vertically as it was in the 95 to keep the antenna vertical but anybody have any comment on the location (ie driver's side or passenger side, in the center near the radio etc.) for best reception of the key fob signal??

Thanks...

Re: 95 to 92 Keyless Entry Mod

I had first it installed under the drivers side of the dash for a couple seasons,..... but it didn't get very good reception there. I then moved it to the center console and that was enough to make the FOB useful. I've got a standard tranny and the TRW box is under the shift bezel/boot (drivers side of shifter ). It does NOT interfere with shifting........

FYI: There is a mod that simply adds a length of wire to the transmitter for better reception. I've never tried it, cause' my FOB works when I'm next to the car - and that's good enough for me.

Here is a couple pics from www.camaroz28.com showing that a wire is simply wrapped then soldered to the original antenna on the TRW circuit board:

Interesting. The one on my Olds Cutlass daily driver SUCKS for range. I'll have to give this a try.
