84 classic cluster to vss
My 84 camaro has the classic split gauges. I purchased a t5 from a 91 firebird that is vss. I've considered a tail swap for a gear driven speedo but i'd like to look into newer clusters as an option. I don't have a tach so an updated cluster would be nice. What would it take to wire in a newer cluster?

No extension housing swap required.
Just put the cable "bullet" and the appropriate gears in it.

Re: 84 classic cluster to vss
Its that easy?... I feel slightly dumb lol. i didnt know the 91 t5 had a gear on the other side of the vss. Where can i pick up the "bullets" as you called it.
What about if i wanted all the updated gauges from the newer cluster? Can i just wire it in without too much extra complications? I was unsure as to whether or not vss runs into the ecu. I suppose im asking if i can just splice in the new cluster and add the sensors for temp etc and if thats a reasonable option?

Awesome. Thanks guys. So one last question. On the far right it shows the vss. In some models the hole is much larger correct? This shouldn't be the case for 91 or even 92 t5s? All i need to do is swap out the gear housing and find the correct driven gear for rear gear and tire size?

Look at the O-ring. Its size and location answers all your questions.
