89 TBI 305 camaro advance VATS question

recently bought an 89 camaro 305 tbi for a DD, has had issues for last week, first thing was it would not crank at all, did starter etc and come to find out it was VATS related, so i bypassed the vats starter relay in the kick panel, seemed to work no problems, about a week later it crank no starts, ive done full ignition/tune up and tbi rebuild, i have a feeling this is vats related as its completely random, it could crank and start and drive perfect, no sputtering nothing, so dont think its fuel pump for that reason but, could possibly start it and stop it 10 times no problem other times it would just crank no start then after key on/off a couple of times trying to start it it would just fire up and run like nothing was ever wrong, when it does crank no start fuel pumps on but injectors spray nothing.

now all that being said i read that there is a vats fuel injector relay some where that tells the injectors to fire. can any one tell me where this is at and if so what signal does it give the injectors and can i just run separate wire to it, say it grounds out the injectors through the vats module so they can spray, could i just straight ground the injectors and have it work? or something similar to that theory?

90% of my car knowledge is LS 1999+ based things, only other thing i have was a tbi 350 k5 blazer and its been issue free for the last 10 years i had it, no chipped keys though.

any insight on if 1. yall think my issue is VATS related and 2. if it is or isnt what do you all think?

Thanks

Re: 89 TBI 305 camaro advance VATS question

even though i was hoping there was a better way it sounds like just doing the resister mod is my best option atm, was hoping there was a way to completely get rid of the vats system besides getting a new prom, thanks!

You can use this to get rid of the passkey module.

almost sure i wont get a full answer as to where i can barely do anything to my 89 camaro 305 tbi but ill try this way. It will start fine however many time first thing in the morning cold idle at 1500 rpms once warmed will sometimes surge from warm idle from 700 to 1000 rpms ill drive it just fine come to a stop light it will die. Sometimes.. When it does die it used to start right up no problem. Now. Almost every single time it dies it wont start back up leaving me in the middle of an intersection with people behiwalle while i have t. Leave the ignition in the on position and take my knife and hit it against the red and purple wire under the hood in the wiring cluster right agaist the fire wall fires right up everytime. Could any one please help me i am dealing with this everday on my way to work at 630 in the morning im scared to stop at a light now so i double foot it and try to hold the idle at 1200 while keeping brake pressure enough to hold it in place still without burning out or rearending someone.
