DIY custom harness
I do not know if I am posting within the right forum but here it goes. I am looking to make my own C100 bulkhead engine harness and I found some of the pieces that I am going to need. But my question is if anyone has made their own harness from fresh parts from unsealed pigtail connectors to a unsealed bulkhead to what gauge of wire for each wire color code.
Bulkhead connector

Cavity unsealed connectors
http://www.casperselectronics.com/ca...gory&path=9_63
Wiring I see incomplete sets as far as from whatever gauge I need to certain color codes that would make a complete harness minus the ECM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I go ahead and make a 200 dollar purchase and not screw up the potential. I see how tos on LS C100 bulkhead conversions but I am not going to do a LS conversion that is at a later date when funds are more plentiful. I can find LS motors through pick and pull scrap yards like pick and pull and pull and save and spaldings.

I don't see this being a diy prom post.
Wire gauge will very depending or circuit draw.
You can buy c100 at mouser.com without being a splice.

Re: DIY custom harness
The links are either broken or take me to the main site. I was only asking because I only ask up on here when I am in the need of friendly advice. My 89 is my pain project due to the previous owner hacked and trashed the harness under the hood and I have called hawks and told them that the harness I need would be unsealed but they don't have any from what they told me. But thanks for your reply.

Re: DIY custom harness
Maybe you could shed some light on what you are trying to do? Is this going into a thirdgen? What engine are you going to use? Is this for a future LS swap? If its going into a thirdgen I don't see the need to use anything other then a stock thirdgen harness. With a paperclip and needle nose pliers you can pull and rearrange wires. Lengthen or shorten wires to whatever length. Heck you could probably buy two harnesses for $50-100 and have $100 left over.

A member here named "Pocket" makes new harnesses. Perhaps ask him for a quote to make what you want. A few extra hundred dollars for him to do the work is a lot of headache removed on your side.

Re: DIY custom harness
Well I purchased my 89 last year due to the fact my 84 Camaro project was more Bondo than steel. The 89 had a 400 SBC code year 1970 block and with every connector being unsealed pigtails vs sealed pigtails(did my research there and every third gen Camaro Firebird salvage yard in the US don't know what the hell I am talking about) I came across the 1984/1987 harness splice(link provided at top) but turns out it is pinned for grand national/buick regal V8 conversions. And I don't want to shell out 350-600 for either painless(sealed connectors) or american highway 22(unsealed). I currently do not have the funds for LS block C100 conversions due to every pull yard pull those out(5545 before tax) before they go to the you bring tools and pull it yourself yard(I live in spokane I know this) and my 89 is more metal than bondo and I rather keep my 400 due to it being a rare block.

Re: DIY custom harness
So again, what are you currently wanting to do? It sounds like this will be used in a thirdgen so why not just reuse a stock engine bay harness and rewire as needed? There is no need to go buy a new bulkhead connector, new wiring and new weatherpack connectors. Buy a thirdgen harness, any thirdgen harness, and rewire as needed. If you want some new style weatherpack connectors then go pull a harness from a newer cavalier and splice/solder in those connectors.
