Re: WRC "astro" steering shaft
from the research i've done, the steering shaft from 2nd gen fbodies is similar or the same as the ones for the 68-72 chevelles. i am building a 71 chevelle as a cruiser. i did the jeep grand cherokee steering BOX which uses the same metric splines that the thirdgen fbodies use, so if this works, it would benefit that car as well. the lower half measures 9.75" overall and uses the same size shaft as the chevelle, however the chevelle lower portion is 10.5" so without taking it apart, i'm not convinced it will work for you.

Re: WRC "astro" steering shaft
So I understand that these shafts "slide" in and out, is there a measurement of full collapsed and extended to "useable" length ? Wondering if I can use one on my 1978 Z28 project ... it now has a IROC-Z XH steering box so I'm not worried about the connection at the box end .... I need to check the column end for compatibility.
Are you clocking these shafts and re welding ?
Sorry for all the q's .... I'd just love to get one of these to work in my 2nd gen !

Re: WRC "astro" steering shaft
Got mine quick, looks great / clean, wrapped for shipping, and came with instructions for the steering column notch 'mod' for it to fit correctly!
Also he is quick to reply!
Thank you!

Re: WRC "astro" steering shaft
there is always a chance i guess, but the mods are already done to the shaft itself, so it should put the wheel back in the same spot (or very near it if you had THAT sloppy of a rag joint that it had the wheel off on it's own). i always recommend an alignment after replacing any steering component though. i do have 1 of these unclaimed at the moment, but the interest is always pretty high. pm me for payment information if you're ready.

The rag joint on my car is fine at the moment, No sloppy play in the car at all so Im not in a rush to install it.

Re: WRC "astro" steering shaft
I have one here already from you. I asked about fitment and alignment because I am getting the car aligned tomorrow and was wondering if I would have to realign it in the Winter, or should I say next Spring when I do the shaft and headers at the same time.

get the lifetime alignment option. normally only a few bucks more, and then if anything changes, you just go get it aligned
