pics of manual clutch install
Does anyone have some pictures of the engine compartment side of the manual clutch install. I assume there is a bracket mounted to the frame that the clutch rods pivots on?

Yeah there is a bracket on the frame, but only on 82-83 cars. Those were the only years of 3rd gen cars that got manual clutch linkage. 84-92 cars had hydraulic clutch linkage. Of course you may already know this. I don't have any pics handy, but the bellcrank frame-side bracket mounts on the top of the frame rail almost directly underneath the power brake booster. Not 100% sure, but chances are the holes for the bracket are already there on most 3rd gen frames. Then of course you have the pivot ball that screws into the engine block just above the oil filter for the other end of the bellcrank. If you need pics of the bracket I have one I can take a pic of, along with the bellcrank and linkage. All came off an early 3rd gen car.

Yeah, but if the booster is moving a bit when the clutch is actuated then there's an issue. Imagine how much flex there is when braking.
Both my 82s had mechanical clutches and didn't have these issues. I swapped D/T a t 56 swap. My point is if there's that much movement of the master there is likely an issue at the firewall. A few millimeters of lost travel in the linkage will cause an issue w release.
Stabilizing the firewall may be a safety issue. It's worth looking into.
The question was about bracing/support. It will likely help in multiple ways
PS: if/when you switch to a hydraulic releases system you will also need to add support/bracing.
