Re: 083 L98 heads ported
I did the porting. I'm an Engineer and I used that experience to approach porting in a technical manner. There is plenty of room for additional porting if one was interested.
Machine shop did a little clean up for me, plus the machining for screw in studs and valve spring seats, valve job, etc A performance place that doesn't exist anymore after the recession hit. These were done about 10 years ago.
Miles? Probably about 5000 miles. Not much, but I don't recall exact.
I'll see about getting some pictures.

Re: 083 L98 heads ported
Short answer...yes.
89 GTA 350 with 700r4 and 3.27 gears. Street tires, no drag radial.
Stock block high mileage.
1-5/8 headers and exhaust
Lingenfelter Runners, ported plenum, and intake.
Stock L98 camshaft, injectors, a hypertech chip. I believe .415/.430 stock don't recall duration on the cam.
I had these heads I'm selling from another car and was porting and getting the work done at the machine shop. I got tired of waiting for the machine shop to turn them around so I took off the original 083 heads on the car...did a quick bowl blend and reinstalled same day. same rockers, valve springs, etc. Car ran 8.48sec in the 8th at around 81-83mph (don't recall exact mph).
Finally got the heads back from machine shop and installed. Car went from consistent 8,8s before any porting at all to 8.6s, but never eclipsed the 8.48. Thats the best my memory serves up.
Had plans for additional changes but life happens... Car needed an upgrade in camshaft or I never really got a chance to tune or make other small changes to take advantage. Actually, I was planning to build a new short block and use the Hot Cam or 219 LPE cam to go with these heads. Just never happened.
I still have the 083 heads with just the bowl blend as well....

Re: 083 L98 heads ported
Still have the heads...
I pulled them out of storage to take some pictures and they have some surface rust in some areas I wasn't expecting. I'll have to clean that up before I can sell them...

Don't mind surface rust, they would be gone through thoroughly and be sitting for a bit until I get back to the states anyhow. Can you send me some pictures to my email? fuentesadan83@gmail.com thanks!
