Alternator accessory Bracket
If any one has one, I'm in need of the alternator accessory bracket, any support braces needed for it, and possibly all bolts, This would be for a TPI.
Mine snapped off, Upon inspection it was only held on by the two lower bolts, and nothing else...Surprised that it lasted this long.
Please, Help. This is my daily driver and its been outta commission for almost a week.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
wwe442, I believe the bracket I need most, the drivers side, is in fact different. Primarily the alternator bolt holes.
Tpi-

TBI-

firebirddude= Do you have the support braces For the alternator too?
If you have both sides, braces and bolts....You seriously got my attention...
Of course I would have to ask for pics, price, and tracking number if I go through...Price being the descerning factor. lol

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
I might be willing to part with mine... They're 92 TBI brackets but I THINK they're the same?
My engine is about to get parted for an LT1 swap, but Im not sure I'm ready to get started disassembling it yet. But if no one else can help, let me know and make an offer.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
From what I noticed with the brackets there are differences in mounting hole locations. Tbi and tpi lower holes are the same, however the upper two mounting holes and alternator holes are different.
If you look at the two links above, they definately show a difference. I just don't want to take any chances.

The change is not because of TPI / TBI,... It's because one set of brackets is from a Camaro, and the other set is from a TBI truck.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
Ok John in RI....Curious, why would the actual engine block mounting holes be different? Its the same corporate engine block.
Sooooooo Does anyone have any info on as to why there is a difference? and Do I need to be concerned about it?

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
What you may hear about are the differences in the rod shaped braces that support the larger brackets. I pulled two from 1991 Camaros around the same time and the rods were different because of the differences in the intake manifold. That's how I remember it at least. From what I have read the rod shaped braces are there to help reduce fatigue on the brackets so they don't crack.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
the pn you need is 10055800, the number will be on the front under the face of the A/C compressor.
one from a Z code 4.3 s-10 might work, will have to drill a bolt hole where the air pump bolt goes thru as its not there on that bracket.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
I do a LOT of serpentine swaps myself. Only the Fbody brackets have the upper hose bracket bolt provision-no other brackets do. If you want to upgrade to a 140A alternator, I have a bracket for you with correct braces.
In this pic are the 140A brackets on the left, standard 105A on the right. I have my adapter brackets installed on it just to allow a person to mount a 140A alt. on a stock bracket. Without the bracket adapter kit, its just a standard bracket.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
Formula1le, my stock bracket looks like the top one in john in RI, post. With the two holes near the alternator mount.
So I don't think there is a difference now that he posted up better picks than I had. Shows the block holes are the same.
So if anyone wants to sell a set(with all braces and bolts), reasonable priced, firebirddude142 ,wwe442 , InfernalVortex, formula1LE:
Hit me up with a PM with pricing

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
When I took everything off, I noticed that only two bolts were in place out of the 5 that hold it. One of the 5 the bolt was broke off in the block. another was so close to the water pump, that even the head of a 2" X 9/16" bolt wouldn't allow it to go in straight. (Thought it funny the ear was cut off at that point.) (Possible changed motor?)
Since (This is my daily driver and my only car) I already lost allot of time and money in travel expenses, $60 (cab+bus )and three hours a day, I really had to speed things up...I only gross $80 day. ($10 a day to drive the car, so I killed my reserves, (frustrated) time was of the essence)
So all in all, after researching shipping charges against shipping time, I felt the most logical step was having it welded and hoping for the best. (dropped off, picked up and installed in under 1 day of daylight.)
So I had to do what I could to expedite the process. I hope you gentlemen understand.

Yep, I would have welded it too. Try to get the additional support bars if you don't already have them.

Re: Alternator accessory Bracket
If you get into a bind I may have a bracket. Have torn down a couple TPI and TBI engines. Have the brackets and re-enforcement bars, bolts etc..bad news is that they are in a pile....so I would need a part number or description of the part you needed.
Been using the TPI setups on older street rod conversions and normally just use V belt pulleys. (e-mail over PM preferred)
