AC Line Needed - 91 Vert

*****EDIT #2 06-28-16. found the correct line locally. We did determine there was a definite change in this high-side line in 1992 at some point. ******

*****EDIT 06-28-16 IN CASE YOU DON'T READ ALL THE THREAD, I STILL NEED A LINE. THANKS!!!! **************

Hey guys,

My apologies, I didn't even search to see if anything was available.

I've been away for a few years restoring my boat, so I've been distracted from my girl!

Anyway, I need an AC line. It's the hard one from the condenser to the evaporator.

I twisted off the connector on accident when I screwed on the R134 adapter. It was like the third adapter since they all leaked.

Naturally, I decided the fix was to really crank it down.

Yep, twisted it right off.

The worst part was that I had replaced EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT in the AC system.

It was completely bone dry and clean. I filled it with oil and coolant with my newly acquired pump and gauges.

I had measured the oil and coolant by scale.

Naturally, coolant and oil escaped in unknown amounts. Now I'm not sure what to put back in.

Anyway, I still need the line.

Thanks!

Here's a crude pic I stole off the internet and drew a red circle:

Re: AC Line Needed - 91 Vert

So, a year later I finally got around to installing this line.

It didn't fit!

No fault of whyt86roc. Other than the one end ( on the condensor side), everything looked perfect. Apparently there was a change in the 92 model???

Pics attached.

Notice that the inner part is smaller, and the outer part is a different shape.

Anyway, I need another line. Anyone have one for a 1991?

So which one is the one you need, the top one or the bottom one?

I need the top one.

I don't have my micrometer handy, but I did measure with my tape measure.

The one I need is approximately 5/16" on the Outer Diameter.

The (wrong) one is approximately 7/16" OD.

The dryer side fittings are the same.

Thanks!

I think I have what you need. The end on the left side (less curved side) of this pic is 5/16 OD. The other end is 7/16 OD. Pulled from an '89 RS.

Picked one up today from a local member!

But, we did some comparing and there was a definite change in the 92 year model.

The local member has a 92, and he kept ordering lines and getting them from earlier models. So, he had a few spares for me. (I think 87 to 91).

The point, for the knowledge base, is that the 92 was definitely different. Maybe it had something to do with the change to the 4th gens in 93. He didn't dig into it that much, but it's the best we can come up with. Was there an engine change in that year? I don't remember anymore, although I remember drooling at the time as a 21 year old kid.
