95 lt1 scan tool
I have my lt1 in and running now its time to wire up the obd port and see how many reasons the check engine light is on for. What kind of scan tool do I need to get for this year motor. It doesn't appear to be obd II compliant but the plug is the obdII style and not an aldl plug. Can i wire up an aldl connector and use an older scan tool or will an obdII tool communicate with it, or is there a special tool for this year. I know there are plenty of guys with 95 motors; let me know what you did.

Depends whether it is obd 1 or obd 2. I think 95 is obd 1. Either way you can use something like autotap and hook it up to a laptop for scanning.

I use a Scantool they have at Autozone, I can't think of the brand at the moment. It has different modules and cables you can get for it to connect it to just about any vehicle. I think it ran about $80 and you can check codes, record a data sample, and watch the readings real time. It's a good scanner.
Also, I use the thirdgen dataport connector rewired for OBD1 use.
