How hard is this going to be....easy right??!?! Doubt it!
So I've gotten this wonderful idea to swap my 305 for a 350. I drive a 1984 Camaro Z28 w/a T5 tranny. My engine hasn't been computer controlled in about 4 months. I had it replaced for a standard carb and HEI distributor. I don't have to worry about emissions either where I live, I haven't had cats either and everything emissions is gone. So how hard is it going to be to swap in a 350? Is it going to be tough setting all the wires left? How man are left its just A/C, heater, carb, and distributor right?
I just want a little more grunt out of my car. I plan on getting the engine bored .30 over, port and polished heads, maybe a cam, intake, and make it look good.
Any suggestions on doing stuff to a 350 for power is appreciated, just remember its got to be daily driver.
Also, should the T5 handle this? I need a new throw out bearing, I'll get that while I'm swapping the engine.
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks guys,
Sage Hickam

Take it easy on it - no high-RPM clutch-dumps, give up any thoughts of speed shifting - a T5 can handle a 350.
How "hard" the swap is depends upon how much ability you've accumulated. And what you end up with for a 350. If you "had" the carb switched, then it's probably going to be difficult for you to do the 350 install (it's more of an "install" than a "swap", really).
(For the record, it's "0.030 inch over". As in, 30 thousandths of an inch. Or, 30 mils. Or, 30 over. It's a rebuild operation, not something you do in itself for more power.)
