Gm Goodwrench engines

I have a 1988 Firebird with a 305 that is leaky from the head and i think is not worth investing more money(IMO).I went to Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center and looked at thier replacement engines and they have a 1965-85 Gm vehivles 350 4 bolt engine. My question is if it will bolt up with my transmission and engine mounts without much hassle. How should i go about the wiring?I plan to run carb so i will have to do some adaptations.

It should bolt up to the tranny (assuming it is a V8 trans) and the motor mounts just fine. After all, it is a small block chevy V8. If you are gonna go with a non computer controlled carb and a vac advance distributor, you'll be able to do away with all kinds of wiring under the hood. I don't know if you plan on using aftermarket mechanical gauges, or use the stock electrical ones, but you can work that out later I guess.

I don't know what some of you guys are talking about. It'll bolt right up IF it has a one piece rear main seal. If it says that the engine is only for older cars but says it's a one piece rear main then it WILL work. Do some more research and call up Jim Pace automotive or other places and ask them for opinions.

Well i contacted the site and they recomended the 350 out of a 1993 caprice that will bolt up with out any problems....It comes with a roller cam and is estimate to make 240 hp....What else should would get me to 300 hp easy....Will headers, and carb be enough or is it more complex than that??

Yes the motor will fit. If the new motor is a two piece rear main and your old one was a one piece, then you will just need to change flex plates. Put a new distributor and carb on it and have a blast!

If you have a manual you would need a new flywheel for the 2 peice, if auto then flexplate. Another thing, the intake bolts are different, if you go carb that won't make a bit of difference since you will get getting another manifold anyway.
