1992 Camaro RS - 305 TBI to 91' 350 TPI
Hello everyone, I figured now that I am halfway into my build I would start a thread. Have been on here for a while searching things when I needed help, maybe now I can start helping others. Here is a little background info:
The car is a 1992 Camaro RS, 305 TBI w/ t5. Scarcely optioned, heck it doesn't even have rear defrost or power windows. Aged red interior, clear coat peeling, high mileaged, mess. The car was not pretty by any means. I managed to buy it from an older couple in a small farming town for $1650. As a young guy without a job I'm trying to do the best job I can while keeping my budget small.
The engine is a L98 from a 91' 1LE, I believe the previous owner has a build thread on here. I scored it for a great price. It didn't have a wiring harness but that actually worked in my favor. I located a harness from a 92' Firebird that had a 305 TPI w/ t5. This eliminated any wiring headaches that could come about.
Now onto the fun part. I pulled the 305 out today with the help of my dad, well really I did all the work he just supervised
Now onto a few questions:
- I know I will need a new fuel pump, will a Walbro 255 be sufficient?
- Has anyone used a Lokar TPI throttle cable? Good? Bad?
- Will my speedometer and tach still work correctly?
I already have the tune/chip covered, but is there any other big issues I should worry about?

Never used a walbro 255 myself but I believe that's the go to pump for tpi swaps. I just used an ac delco pump on a tpi sending unit. Couldn't tell you on the Lokar cable either. Original GM cables aren't hard to find nor expensive. Your speedometer should work fine but you will have to bypass the speed buffer box on your car as the tpi ecm doesn't need the box. It's wired from the VSS straight to the ecm. See diagrams. http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ine_wiring.gif

Tach should also work normally.
