1986 Camaro, LS3 converted

This is the route I have chosen to go with my 383 since I couldn't get some of the cash out of the motor I had invested into...

E67 ECU, LS3/7 Drive by Wire Throttle Body, ProFlo XT for SBC, 2002 Camaro Body Harness but this may switch over to a 06 GTO body control module and harness since I get the relay bank and the cabling for the rear mount battery in the GTO harness.

1992 Heritage Edition Silver Stripes painted on
1992 Heritage Edition Silver Stripes painted on

I am currently waiting on the GTO Body control module/harness and the Dakota Digital gauge cluster.

I'm Dynamat & Dynalining the entire inside car, after completely bed lining the under and inside of the car

58X & 4X all contained within the timing cover

Yes, it fits. With just some minor machining to the TB for the lower bolts to go into the pre-existing Intake holes

Body harness laid out for disection

2002 F-Body fuel tank

Oil pump drive, no distributor needed.

LT1 Serpintine configuration with Meziere hd 55gph water pump

The opening of the Edelbrock intake actually measured out to 93mm

I'm going to be selling a miniram with brand new fuel pressure regulator and rails. Along with a "mounted, never run" AS&M mono blade.

Wow I have to say ... Props to you. I have never even heard that you could do that to a small block Chevy. LS3 electronics and throttle body (not to mention distributor less). I have heard about obd2 conversions for an sbc, but no this. Eagerly will be following this thread.

Is that a EFI Connection 58X? I don't think I've seen anybody use one yet, 24x sure but 58x seems uncommon.

It should be easier than the 24X system I installed on an IROC over last fall/winter for a guy in North Dakota.
I won't have to go through and set the IAC and TPS or adjust the 1X distributor to perform the crank learn.

It is theirs, 120-00139 is the part number for the version I have. There is no direct link to it right now, the only way I found out Mike was making/selling it was through a FB page posting they had on their page...
He is producing a 1/4 NPT with mounting shaft for resonant sensor use with the E-67.

$500 isn't bad for an axle rebuild. It'd be worth it to me, I don't have the patience to do it myself, to mess it up, to have it whine and then send it out to be built correctly.
Of course that depends on skill level and all, which I'm betting you have more of than me. I'm guessing you already had those moser axles in there?

Re: 58X w/dbw LS3/7 TB on sbc 383

The Moser 12 bolt rear was was in my 94Z originally.
I'm running 4th gen rims on the car so the rear end bolting right in was a natural option. No sense in taking a loss on selling the 4th gen rear to buy another with 1" shorter axles. I beat the hell out of that rear since 2006, she was whining a bit, just felt sloppy when it was being drove.
I would have been money a head if I had bought the tools, I'm sure I will be putting a 3:55 gear ring in it at some point.

Re: 58X w/dbw LS3/7 TB on sbc 383

Well I finally got a little more done with it today.
I got the front A-Arms installed, installing aftermarket springs was a bit tricky...
Motor is in, I just need to go re-claim my 6 speed next weekend and get it installed. I'm trying to figure out if i want to use the aftermarket 4 core radiator or go to stock and run the factory dual fans...
The motor is in, the intake looks to align nicely with the stock intake, I'm hoping I can pull enough air through it...

Very nice looking exhaust. Do you think it would work if I were to ditch the two front pipes connecting the exhaust to the headers and fab it it my longtubes on my sbc?

I think you could "modify the two front pipes to fit the long tubes, keeping the x-pipe in there. Just get the header cones and trim the 12" (or so) of exhaust past the header cutting it, angling it and re-welding it. That is what i was looking at picturing where my SBC was sitting with headers on it and where these pipes are connecting at.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was planning. I just a dual 2.5 all the way out back. I ordered it earlier today actually

Let me know how this goes if your keeping a post of what your doing to yours. I still have my 383 SBC and might put it in my dads 88 TA this winter with the 58 configuration and with LS3 DBW and E38 ECU. I have the hooker 2210's and may run the blackheart system on his car or at least figure out how to construct the X-pipe configuration & cross member to adapt to the B&B tri-flow I put on his car a couple of weeks ago.

If I remember I Will let you know how it goes. I should just need to hack the front pipes and get a couple bends or tubing from summit and fab it

I changed the oil pan back to the stock LS3 GMPP unit because the F-Body GM pan was hitting the centerlink bar and would not function with the F-body pan. I'm glad I hadn't' sold the stock GMPP oil pan

The front of the GM F-Body pan drops down an half inch more than the stock pan GM sends on the LS3 Crate motor. This caused the steering centerlink to hit the pan and could not be bolted in place.

I drove it last year before it went in for paint. Love the acceleration and looking forward to driving it this spring. It is very quite inside with the Dynamat and Dynaliner little to no rattles in the car.
I got new ACC carpet for it today, received the new weather seal kit last week and have to upgrade the rims and brakes maybe toward the end of the summer. The 96 GS HD Brakes do good for now.

I'm currently swapping an LS3 into an 86. Where did you run your fuel lines? I am also using the Blackheart exhaust and it seems the headers are too close to the factory line location?
Thanks

Did you get the heat shield? I did run it for the most part in the stock location. I do know that when I go to the LS7 and re-run my stainless in -8 I may be looking for an alternate route for the tubing.
But everything was hand formed. I bought all my stainless from inlinetube.com in 6' lengths and not the softer stainless. Also note that if your using the "harder" stainless that after your done with the flaring to re-heat (normalize) the flared ends so the stainless doesn't crack once tightened down.

I did get the sheetmetal heat shield from Hooker. Are you using any other heat shielding material on the lines.

Re: 1986 Camaro, was a58X config on a sbc 383, now a LS3 and Tremec

Thanks QwkTrip!
I've got more to do.
I'm looking for aftermarket rims right now and have been working with bigbrakeupgrade, but running into a few dead ends with how I had already reworked my spindles for the 96 HD Brakes and the 7/16x20 standard thread I used in lieu of the M12 (bangs head)...
I have to get the dash taken apart one more time to fix three wiring issues I have.
I removed the GTO Body Control Module.
I put a RFID Push Button Start in it. Installed the Dakota Digital Auto Headlight and Retained Accessory Power in. I was able to source the Yakazi Fuse/Relay pins to add the right length "uncut wiring into the harness (proper). Installed a Gentex Rear view video mirror (I can see about three times as much as what I used to through the 91/92 wing and brake light. Huge gain IMHO. I just recently traded work for the JW Speaker 8800 Low Beam LED's (phenomenal improvement). The Holley Dominator was added over winter, Such a huge gain when it comes to tuning yourself, so easy and the power difference over the E-67 GMPP tune is good but the Holley at the upper end now (as of this past weekend) with a change in AFR after the main fuel table was adjusted a bit more and timing at WOT taken down to 23 degrees and still using the LS3 knock sensors was a upper RPM wake up.

So an update to the ever evolving transformation of my camaro happens more on facebook link in my signature than here. But she's under the knife again.

Firewall is getting cleaned up and repainted, factory air will be gone and low mount AC will be used.
Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum being installed, Dakota Digital Automatic climate controls
Fuel System upgraded to Squash Dual 450's ran to the front in 1/2" line
LS 427, Magnuson LSA TVS-2650
Flaming River Rack and Pinion with travel bar to keep inner tie rod's stock located. A friend is helping with the CAD to cut the plates to make the mount (reverse mount) No more Steering box or Wonder Bar. Plates will be fabricated to use stock holes in the frame.
Lowering the Engine an inch and using LS mounts, no adapter plates, to clear the stock Z28 hood (Pic of the QA1 STB). Small modification to wiper housing will clear the supercharger's lid

What the rack and pinion mount will look like.
I got all the CAD done between Friday night and today.
3D printing the plastic fitment pieces tonight.
(Ignore the circle it's what I'm centering off of)
