355 TPI swap
Been lurking for a few weeks since I picked up an 89 IROC-Z with a 5.7 TPI.
I'm planning on ordering one of the Blueprint 355 Aluminum Roller engines(http://www.blueprintengines.com/inde...ase-bp35513ct1) and I have a few questions. I've done some searching in the threads but I haven't found the answers I'm looking for.
I'm going to keep the TPI setup, but will be deleting the EGR (I've read the pros and cons in these threads. I also know there will be some fab work required for the center intake bolts). My first question is about billet serpentine systems. Most of the complete kits I've seen all say "short reverse style" for the water pumps. The waterpump on the stock 5.7 TPI is a long style. Since I'm doing a complete engine swap and the block Bluepoint uses is a pre-87 type block, can I use one of the kits with the short style waterpump? I'm wanting to order one of the complete kits with w/ alt, a/c, and PS pump.
And continuing that mode of thought, I will be replacing the radiator with an aluminum one. If I use a short style waterpump could I use one of the flexible universal lower radiator hoses?

The link you posted says it's a 1-piece RMS, roller cam. Doesn't sound like a pre-'87 block.
Not that it matters. The accessory system determines the type of water pump, not the block.
