$2,000-$3,000 Engine Build

Hello,

First I would like to point out I built my 87 Camaro with my dad when I was 16, so money and parts were limited. 10 years later, I have a lot more to spend.

Most people would say my engine is rather mismatched (based off my signature)

If I want to build a new motor, where do I start? What parts should I keep from my current build?

I'd like to build a 350 or 383, maybe a big block. WANT TO STICK WITH A BIG CAM!!!

Just looking for ideas of better matching parts that perform well together.

Thanks for any and all help!

Re: $2,000-$3,000 Engine Build

Those heads are not bad and can be ported nicely. I am guessing they are 200cc intakes. I would keep them but have a machine shop go over them. Then get a nice roller block and go 383 stroker to take advantage of the larger head ports. Roller is worth the extra cost all day every day when starting fresh. Spend some cash on a decent bottom end, have it balanced and go for about a 10:1 static compression. After that pick a decent sized cam maybe something like a 288HR and have some fun. You can keep your manifold and get the carb of your choice.

Go for a 3" exhaust and then work on headers or other things when you have more cash.
