What route to take?

I have a 83 l69 z28 with 66k on it. I bought a lt1 t56 combo from a 96 ss camaro that I was going to install. I have been kicking the idea now of a ls engine. I would run a carb as I see nice hp with it. Down the road I could always swap to efi. Seems to be a easier swap for the short term. I have all the electronics for the lt1. I have also read that a lt1 t56 will not work with a ls? Any ideas?

Re: What route to take?

Personally I would leave an L69 alone - especially an 83. You can pick up a car of lesser value for cheap money still and modify that - leaving the relatively rare & more desirable L69 alone.

I will be keeping the l69 and t5 combo. I can always swap it back.

They're only original once.

I wouldn't mess with an LT1 personally. What it offers in terms of increased performance doesn't really balance out the unique headaches involved. It doesn't really offer anything over a later Gen-I SBC.

Re: What route to take?

A guy derekicon on here just carbed a LT1 on here. Might make the swap simpler and faster. Keeping the a/c with the LT1 might be costly. I have a carbed sbc with the LT1 t56 and it was worth the trouble.

Re: What route to take?

Car is a non AC car. What is a 96 ss lt1 worth with 80k? All electronics are included as well as radiator and fans.

Motor may be hard to get big money for but the trans would probably bring over $1000. I wouldn't let it go, they're strong and great to drive with.
