Question about Firebird V6 swap to S10.

Don't bother. I'll take the discussion to another forum.

This isn't a 3rd gen engine swap question, but it may be related enough to a 3rd gen V6 swap that it could be addressed here. I'll let the V6 forum moderator decide that.

Re: Question about Firebird V6 swap to S10.

It's really up to you. You could just swap over everything and be done with it and have it done in a weekend. Or you could convert the S10 to fuel injected, and take quite a bit longer.

If you just swap blocks and heads (F-body and fiero heads are the better flowing 2.8,3.1,3.4 heads), you're really just bolting and unbolting stuff.

Swapping out harnesses isn't necessarily really difficult, but can be a pain in the @$$ but if you like doing electrical (I don't like it, I only do it if it needs to be done or PO hacked something up). Just remember this way can take more time to get it up and running properly, and probably would involve having to buy a bunch of new sensors for it to run well.

That is not true. All gen1 heads after 1986 are the same, regardless of the application and engine size. Same port size, same port shape, same valve size. Same head.

There was a difference in heads earlier than 1986, where there were standard heads, and "H.O. heads". The H.O. heads came in the Citation X-11, Fiero, and F-body IIRC. The later heads are basically what the early "H.O. heads" were.

That being said, this IS a 3rd gen forum and we try to keep it all 3rd gen related, so I'm forced to lock this, even though the OP has since decided to ask the question elsewhere. I will suggest http://www.s10forum.com/forum/60v6-forum-2-8-3-4/ There are plenty of knowledgeable 660 S10 enthusiasts there, myself included. There's also 60degreev6.com along with many other S10 specific forums.
