Header Issues With Oxygen Lines????

Car: 1989 IROC-Z
Engine: 350-5.7L
Transmission: 700R
Header Issues With Oxygen Lines????
ok i think i stated the above correctly....i need to know wether i need to keep the oxygen lines on my new headers....are they necessary and if i can remove them how can i remove the entire assembly....from the headers and catalytic converter to the rest of the piping..help please thank you.....

They're actually called air tubes. or something like that AIR something. anyway, chop em off and weld the holes shut. as long as you really dont need the cat, they really arent that important.

A.I.R. - Air Injection Reaction
You can remove them just as Chillen described, but then you wont be sending any air to your cat so it can get hot enough to work properly. Thats a problem if you have a cat (it will plug up) but its not a problem if you dont have one.

so then how do newer vehicles do it then since they dont have the AIR system, yet their cats work fine and dont clog up....i guess it is something that happens in the long run then and not like within a couple of years...say 2 or 3.....but since i already installed them then i guess i will find out...and this was on my brothers car...on mine i am doing the same thing.....once more question....is my set up a good one...someone tell me...in their opinion what they think of course.....
Hedman shortys (painted) w/ CATCO universal cats and Borla XR-1 round mufflers using 2 1/2' piping....(round or oval..havent decided) exiting through the sides....

If its a single exhaust, dont go any smaller than 3".. if its a dual exhaust system, 2.5" is just right. The Hedman headers are a good set, I have a set of them. I have no idea about the mufflers, I don't really know anything about Borla stuff.

well today i received my Borla XR-1's and my hedmann headers...so i will post up the results as far as sound and performance goes...and since it is going to be a dual side exit exhaust system....then i will also try and post some pictures as soon as possible...probably next week...but i will keep you guys posted since i dont think there is anyone in here that has used these mufflers....
