Well if its a "track car"............. just get the EGR Delete Plate and have you EGR functions reprogrammed out of the system.

Easy...no gripes

Curious, why do you think you need to delete EGR?

Maybe I'm confused here, but what does the EGR have to do with the exhaust?

From what I understand it takes your burned exaust gasses from your exaust and interjects it back into your intake to be recycled once more.
That's the way it worked in my diesel pick up. I'm not to familiar with these tpi's yet but that's why I'm asking questions. I've only had this one for a few months. But I grew up with an 83 camaro and it didn't have these fancy gizmos

Re: new exaust . showing up in the mail today.

the "off road" headers and exhaust doesnt have the factory provisions to reuse the emissions, the 50 state or emissions ready exhaust stuff does

Re: new exaust . showing up in the mail today.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the EGR system connects to the exhaust pipes in any way on these vehicles.

I know on my bronco, there is a pipe that shoots up exhaust back into the intake, my car didn't have that.

At least for TBI, the EGR valve is bolted directly onto intake and redirects the exhaust from the heads into the intake. I would think it would be similar with TPI.

Re: new exaust . showing up in the mail today.

pretty sure it comes from the stock manifolds, and the cars with AIR have that going into the exhaust as well

Right that's why we're confused as to why he thinks he needs to delete his EGR

Well now I'm confused. The stock manifolds will be gone. Air tubes will be gone as well.

Re: new exaust . showing up in the mail today.

there is no reason to have an egr with no way to get the exhaust to it. you should seal all the holes in the intake so you dont have any vacuum leaks. imo more you get rid of easier the trouble shooting in the future.

Check this thread out post #13.

I'm quite sure in TPI f-bodies there is no external connection between egr and exhaust.

Re: new exaust . showing up in the mail today.

i stand corrected. thats a pretty weird setup, the ones i worked on had the traditional setup on the carbed ones in the 80s. seems weird they would go with that, you would think its hard to manufacture the heads and intake with the extra ports. especially in a time i dont think cnc machines were prevalent back then if at all.

i guess no reason to plug the egr, it would be difficult if its in the heads anyway. you would have oxygen sensor or sensors though that will need to be added to some of the "offroad" pipes. and if its got the air system i think those have a pipe or something, would definitely get rid of all that, its problematic as heck as they get older, especially the compressor.
