Donut gasket for Edelbrock 6872/7972
Anyone know the part number for donut gasket for my Edelbrock headers? The old one measures 2.5" ID and around 0.6" thickness.

The one for mid-70s 454 fits. Ask for like a 76 truck at the parts store.

Would really like to do that at a local parts store but probably you didn't notice I live in Malta... Local parts stores would never stock such things for US cars. Mainly ricers here.
Any online recommendations?

No doubt you can get it at Summit. (parts store, except it's online) Look it up by application as described. Might cost $3 or so, plus shipping.

Searched at summit for 454s donuts they list felpro 8194 which is 2 1/32 ID. Wouldn't work for me.

Not the right one. That's 2", for 6-cyl and such.
Try FelPro 9587.

Thanks it looks like the right one in terms of ID. Can't find the thickness but it is worth a try.

Those are exactly what I need but unfortunately they seem to be unavailable from everywhere. I have recently placed an order with rockauto for some other stuff and have included a walker 31508 to see if it fits. If not I will get the felpro 9587 from Summit and see if it fits

Aftermarket gaskets are usually made by only a handful of the big gasket manufacturers, Victor-Reinz, Fel-Pro, ROL, etc. Chances are almost too good that the aftermarket (Edelbrock) will use an existing gasket from one of the manufactures. Hence, sofakingdom's suggestion to look for a donut used on a mid-70's BBC.
My first step would be to find a manufacturer's part number. Look through the major manufacturer's illustrated buyers guide (hopefully, they have one online) to see if any of their gaskets match up to what you're looking for. Once you have their part number, start searching for that number. Chances are pretty good you'll be successful.
I've gone this route with some SLP exhaust gaskets that were no longer available from SLP, Summit (an SLP dealer), and other places. I was successful in finding out who the manufacturer was and their part number by looking through their buyer's guide. The only very minor hassle was finding a distributor that would place a minimum order for me.
Believe it or not, I looked for a distributor that was selling that brand of gasket on ebay. They were more than happy to place the order with the manufacturer for me.
The gasket you're looking for appears to be pretty common. Other than you living in Malta, I doubt you should have too much of a problem locating it.
Good Luck!

The actual part is the one indicated by John but I cannot find anywhere. Will let you know if the walker one fits.

It does. I've used it a bunch of times myself.
There's a solid steel one that I like better (not least, for being reusable an almost infinite # of times) but that packing material one works just fine. You'll be good to go.

Great. I plan to use it only once so shouldn't be an issue. Still will let you know how it goes.

Yesterday I received the walker gasket that I mentioned above. It had the exact ID and OD so it should work. It's slightly thinner (lower) but it shouldn't be a problem. Material is like a steel wool. They call it sintered steel.
Thanks for the felpro number though. Will use it just in case the walker doesn't work fine

I used the as issued graphite donut gaskets with my SLP headers I had before the LSx swap. If you buy these for your headers buy them by the dozen. For trouble free gaskets the sintered iron from a mid 70's Chevy truck is the way to go they will not burn out.

I know this threads a little old but I thought I'd give it a go...
Do I need to use the inner sleeves with these types of gaskets? I bought a used set of these Edelbrock Headers and only one side had the inner sleeve on the Y-Pipe

Not sure what you mean by inner sleeve. My Y pipe has a half a donut shape on which the donut gasket sits. The header side is simply another half donut shape which mates to the gasket same way as it does in the y pipe side.

Re: Donut gasket for Edelbrock 6872/7972
Thanks for the info! So I use two gaskets per side? I ordered the same Walker parts you did. The Y-Pipe had a metal inner sleeve that went inside the gaskets and spanned the joint between the header and the Y-pipe. Here's a pic of the original Y-pipe. The sleeves are seen coming up inside the flared flanges.

Yes I didn't know that you are referring to that part as the sleeve. That is actually the pipe with a semi donut surrounding.
You use 1x donut per header thus 2x in total.
