F/S: 1989 GTA GM-Gray T-Tops 5.7l Auto 107k miles in VA

This is a pre-post as the car isn't quite ready to walk out the door yet.
I had originally bought this car to build into a dedicated drag car to save wear and tear on the 'vette, but am now dancing on the other foot. Car is way too nice to turn into a drag car anyway.

I've picked up some parts and pieces over the last 6 months which I am still in the process of swapping out, new front seats out of a 93, steering wheel, tail lights, etc. I already have a new headliner in (PITA). Exterior had a medium quality paint job on it probably 4-5 years ago, some rock chips and a scratch here or there, but very clean looking. Interior is in great shape, and will be really nice once I get the new seats in, only thing off was the cracking leather. The front seats out of the 93 look almost new, the steering wheel I have to replace is in good shape. The rear seats have cracking on the top, which is normal for the "greenhouse" effect under the hatch. I have some replacements, but can't seem to figure out if they will work yet. Already replaced the rear pull down motor (might need some position adjustment but it works good) and the headlamp motors. Many other new parts on it from previous owner, alt, battery, cats, maybe the windshield and dash too, they are really clean. The wing was replaced some time ago and is not in the best shape, but is ok. Looks like some adhesive or something oozed down from under it, which is why I am replacing the tail lights. Everything is completely stock and unmolested, she runs starts and runs strong, doesn't like being cold, but these motors never did. Radio and the controls on the steering wheel works great, wouldn't trust the tape player though.

This website has some pictures of it from when I first got it:
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6ydad/id12.html

Looks better now. I will be posting some more detailed pics once I get the interior finished. Right now I have some 2" wheel spacers, front and back on it, with some Z06 size and style black motorsports wheels (machined lip). Those have 295/25/18 Goodyear F1 Supercars on the back and 265/40/17 Firestone wide ovals on the front. The stock GTA wheels (with centercaps) will come with the vehicle regardless. They have some no names with decent tread on the rears and a fairly worn set of Dunlops on the front. Like I said, I bought this to use for myself, those are some nice wheels. I know I can't get all my money back out of them but I will offer the car with stock wheels or the z06s.

So if you are interested here is a chance to get a jump, or start a conversation about it before I post it everywhere in a week or two. I figure on here most people know what they are looking for.

With just the stock GTA wheels: $3300
With the wheel spacers and Z06 wheels: $4100

Don't PM me as I don't hit this site everyday, email me at: iflubyu@verizon.net

Thanks!
Lee

So 5 months later, I still haven't gotten a damn thing done to this car. Been having to concentrate way too much on my vette.
If it's still around when it warms up, it's going on ebay with a reserve of 3k.

But better than that, if someone on here who knows what they are looking at/for shows up with $2500 cash, I'd be willing to let her go.

Don't post here as I don't get on here that often anymore, email direct to iflubyu@verizon.net. Serious inquirers only, no picture collectors or tire kickers please!

God damn it! What a deal.

Though, if I were you I'd put the GTA badges in the right spot

Yeah, not trying to hide anything. The car had what looked to be a mediocre paint job, maybe 5 years ago. Looks like they left the sail panel badges off when they did. Something I would have gotten around to eventually. There is a company on ebay that sells a very passable set of badge replacements, not cheap though, like $80 for the sail panels, $180ish for a whole kit. They do have the correct color/trim types though. It is what it is, and it ain't what it ain't. If it was a 8 or 9 out of 10 car, I'd want $4500 minimum.

Sharp ride; wow! I gotta ask the obvious questions though, and I believe you partially answered some of them in your original post last year:

What condition are the T-tops in? Do they leak? What condition are the doors in? Do the hinges sag? Do the headlight motors work?

What about the gauges and those hundred and one buttons on the steering wheel?

And most importantly, how well does it run?

Runs great, starts up almost like a new car. It does not like being cold, if you put it drive or reverse before it warms up a bit, it may stall when you hit the gas, *sometimes*.

T-Tops are in perfect working order, they set and seal great. The outside trim (plastic facing away from car) is faded/discolored and the very leading edge of them has broken off some, Took it to a power-spray type car wash, no issues.

All the guages work great, with one exception. The fuel guage reports a 1/4 tank low. I am guessing that since the windshield and dash look to have been replaced by the previous owner (they look TOO good to be original) that it was knocked off kilter at that time.

All the buttons on the steering wheel work! I replaced the original unit with a used one I bought off ebay. The Volume down button sticks a bit, but works fine. They say you know you are getting old when you find out your stereo also has a volume down function, heh....

Also! The headlights work great. I replaced the actuators with the GOOD rebuilt ones off ebay, guy does a heck of a job, better than OEM. Now they pop up snappy EVERY time, but, The switch is a little finicky when turning them off, sometimes you have to flick it a couple of times, or push in hard and hold down to get them to go down. I am pretty sure it is the switch on the dasy.

I have all the originals of the stuff I replaced if someone is retentive about having original pieces too.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Acouple of odds and ends questions;

Hows the rust on the underbelly? Floor boards, trunk, ect, ect.

You said it runs good, but likes to be warmed up; does it idle smoothly?

Hows the oil pressure and engine temperature? Holding pretty steady?

Ok guys, I had a buyer but haven't heard from him. He was supposed to ship back from Afghanistan two weeks ago, but no word. Hit me up before I put some lipstick on this pig and put her on ebay for 3500, the weather snap should be happening soon, anything with t-tops will go quick.

OK guys and gals,
Last chance, end of this week I will put it on CL for 3000, and on e-bay the week after that. Still $2500 for anyone from here that knows what they are looking at.
Just call me on the cell if you are local or willing to come pick it up and are serious. 703-969-4299
