1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000 SOLD!

Well, the original deal fell through with this car so I'm re-listing it.

Here are the issues:
-Dew wipes need replacement, hinges at top for rear window louvers broke.
-Weatherstripping should be replaced, it dried out.
-Dash has a typical crack, driver's seat had one tear but has been repaired.
-Driver's door hits front quarter panel, resulted in some minor paint chips.
-Not original paint and this car was hit in the front at some point in its life. I didn't notice either until this was pointed out by one buyer. The paint job looks as good as it does in the pictures in person and people constantly stop me to take pictures with the car so it isn't bad at all. If you were expecting a $10k paint job, I'd be asking more money obviously. Title is clear.
-The interior shows some wear, the car was driven locally in Philadelphia, thus it endured lots of short trips. For example, the original owner lived within 3 miles of his workplace and within 8 miles of center city Philadelphia. This car was his weekend cruiser as he always had at least one other car to drive to work during the week. When he bought the car, he was 20 years old not 45 looking to keep the car as an investment. The mileage of 30,000 is correct and there are records to reflect this as well.
-Minor rust on the battery tray, a spot next to the weatherstripping when you open the rear hatch, and minor rust on the very bottom of the doors on the inside at the door skin fold. The car did spend some time outside at one point and is 28 years old. The floors, trunk, panels, are all clean and the body is in great condition for the age of the car
-Needs a garage and a caring owner. Not a 24 year old such as myself trying to drive to work everyday, rain, snow, or shine.
-These issues are ALL MINOR and I'm asking HALF of the appraised value for this car and I have full documentation of the appraisal.

The good:

-It has a 305 4bbl, 4 speed Borg Warner Super T10, limited slip differential, 4 wheel disc brakes, AC, ps, pb, pw, pl, viper alarm system, 6 speaker MSE sound system, 15X7 MSE specific western wheels, custom built suspension package by Mecham Racing, close-ratio steering box, 255/60/15 firestone firehawk tires (less than 2k on them), Mecham Racing GT style leather-wrapped steering wheel, PMD Recaro seats, and much more.

-This is #55 which is very important because the #55 MSE built specifically for the SCCA racing championship WON the SCCA Racing Championship for Pontiac in 1982. The white MSE in the SCCA racing championship pictures is #55, which is why a collector drove 1,000 miles just to examine this car. There were 500 built in 1982, 300 were sold in dealerships around the country and 200 were for SCCA racing/off-road use only.

-I bought the car from the original owner and know the original owner personally. You could probably talk to the original owner about the car as well. It has 30,000 original miles with some documentation.

-Appraised for $8,100 by Automotive Legal Services in Horsham, PA with full notarized documentation.

-It runs and drives great. It did have an issue with shifting that was easily resolved by adjusting the clutch rod and currently shifts buttery smooth. The ride is smooth, the handling is excellent, and it stops on a dime. The engine runs smooth with no knocks, leaks or smoke and sounds excellent. I drive the car everyday without any issues from the drive train.

-The paint, although not original, looks great with only minor blemishes which are a few nicks. The car retained all of the MSE exterior upgrades and badging. The car attracts ALOT of attention in its current condition. I get stopped all the time with people asking to take their pictures with the car. It was very popular at the Wildwood Annual Classic Car Show and often drew more attention than the restored 69 Shelby GT500 parked next to me. Don't let the picture fool you, that was 8:05 am Friday September 24th on the Boardwalk, just thought it was cool to include one pic and I have several others, most of me being sunburnt in front of the car lol.

-I've spent over $5k restoring this car into a respectable daily driver. The interior looks much better now, the exterior looks great, and its now safe, reliable, and fun. You can drive the car as it is and enjoy the heck out of it or restore it, either way it looks great and is reliable. I have all the receipts for the work I've had done to this car.

-All electronics work flawlessly on this car and the six speaker sound system works excellent. This is the fully optioned Trans Am with the complete MSE package. The interior, exterior, suspension, and performance upgrades are all there. The only thing missing is the original Motorolla Cassette Deck.

-The GIT KIT was never installed and is in the original boxes and packaging from Mecham Racing. I can sell the GIT KIT tomorrow for at least $1,300 simply because those parts have never been used. I have almost all of the original paperwork for the car.

The price is $4k cash for this car and I will only consider trading for a 97-01 Cherokee (box style 4x4) or a very clean 90-96 F150 I6/5 speed plus cash depending on the condition. The deal must be done cash in hand and you must be able to buy the car in person, no shipping, bs, or other excuses. I'm not selling the car because of major issues, I'm selling the car because I really want a truck again. I have no garage, no time due to other interests, and can't afford to own two cars again. When I bought the car, I had plans to move into a house and owned a truck as well, but that fell through and now I really miss my truck which I sold. I can't load anything more than a guitar into this car, which is really becoming a pain. This is a very rare car that needs a garage and a caring owner, not some kid driving it to work everyday and gigs on the weekend.

The car is a daily driver so the mileage will change, currently just turned over 30,000 miles. I'll gladly answer any other questions or provide pictures upon request. Lend a hand and save a car that will be a very worthwhile investment with minor work. Thank You.

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

If this isn't a cool car and a good price for someone than I dont know what is. HAcked up molested firebirds with 130k go for this amount of money.

I would put that on Ebay and get good money for it.

He could have sold it a long time ago if he was willing to sell to bidders outside the US. I offered him this money on the early 3rd gen board a while ago.

I know, i even had a friend of mine from NY to drive down and bring the money in cash but nobody picked up phone or responded to messages. Pretty sad that the car now has 2 go thru winter without garage or anything.

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

Thats tuff. Selling anything, let alone a car, is tough when dealing with overseas. I probbaly wouldn't do it. But than again if someone was going to bring the money to me in cash and than I can deal the car off thats a bit different.

How tough is it really? All you have to do is wait and look at your bank account til the money comes in, give a holler and the car will be scheduled for pickup. I do't see how it is any easier than that? No need to take the cash in hand to the bank either.

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

No offense to international buyers but this car is my sole source of transporatation and I cannot afford to buy another, rent a car for even 1 day, and cannot get to my job by public transporation. It just seems like its just more of a hassle than its worth to try to sell it internationally, someone should be able to look at/buy the car in person cash in hand, transfer the title in person, and drive it home. Maybe I'll consider it in the future but for now I'm just not comfortable with selling the car to an international buyer.

I'm giving the car a second chance on life and I am enjoying it until it sells or maybe even for the next few years to come if it doesn't. I actually absolutely love driving this car everyday so I have no problems keeping it either at this point. The car is priced well below its value for an easy sale without any hassles. Thanks

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

Why would you have to? With he money in your bank it will take time for the car to get picked up so you'd have more time to buy something else than when you had someone come by, cash in hand and take the car away. The whole logic behind this eludes me.

Kind of a shame that it's a daily driver, that and the winter weather won't do it any good unfortunately.

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

I'm simply not going to change my stance on the subject. I know how easy it can be as my family and I have worked in the banking industry for many years. I've also seen first-hand the issues and the lawsuits that arise when something goes wrong. I'm just not comfortable with an international deal at this time. Sorry

Just have them send you a western union check.
That is how I sold a car across the water.
Alex is one great guy and the deal with him would be easy for you.
I also would never give bank info out.

You need to do a better job trying to sell this car. If someone is offering you cash to ship it overseas, and he wires you the funds, what is the problem?

Re: 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MSE 30K $4000

I thought the same thing. I was willing 2 either wire the money, send paypal or have my friend who lives in Allentown to drive over and pay the car in cash. 2 days later the shipping company would have picked it up - End of the story and easy as using a bathroom.
All a seller has 2 do is to handle the title and keys to the shipping company. Well after 2 weeks of endless emails and drama i simply decided its probably not a good idea to buy this car.

The seller has respectfully made the terms crystal clear for anyone to read. Please respect the sellers terms and quit going over it in the sellers ad.

Thanks.
