88 Trans AM - 5 Speed 139k miles - $3000
Picked this up as part of a package deal and don't really need it. An older gentlemen had it for many years. He was in the middle of replacing the intake, plenum, and intake runner gaskets when he passed away. After that, it sat for a couple of years in his widow's garage. A friend of the family bought it about 6 months ago and it was to much for them to put back together. I put all new top end gaskets, it has new plug wires, plugs, fuel filer, sway bar end links, and many other suspension parts just before he died.
After sitting this long, the gas was bad. It was drained as much as possible and replaced. It ran pretty rough to begin with, but the more I drive it, the better it runs. Has a low RPM stumble, but above 2500 RPM, it runs great. I think the injectors probably gummed up. I have a rebuilt set of injectors that I haven't installed yet.
It is fun to drive - thought about playing with it for a few weeks, but to much other stuff going on. It's an un-restored, un-molested 88 TA. Original paint. Stock engine, exhaust, etc - not butchered. Still has all emissions stuff. Just light surface rust in a some areas. No power options, only AC and T-Tops. Clutch and tranny work great. The PO put some M+S tires they had on the back and it has pretty worn tires on the front. The brakes were all new before it sat, but one side is sticking - when they are hit, it pulls to one side.
It needs paint and interior work. The dash has the usual crack and the driver seat has some tears/wear. It has seat covers on it now.
