Car: 1986 Trans AM
Engine: 305
Transmission: 700r
1986 Trans Am Project $2,800
1986 Trans Am Project in Salt Lake City, UTAH $2,800
Vin#: 1G2FW87F2GL238771
134,000 Miles
Vehicle was stripped and repainted in 2011 (Flame Red) Been garaged and wrapped up ever since.
Ground Effects, Front and Rear Bumpers have not been painted.
The 305 TPI was removed and I had intended to rebuild it. It has been disassembled and the block is ready to go to the machine shop. All of the parts are intact but the engine has been removed from the car and disassembled.
Windshield was removed to get the Dash out. *Car will need a new windshield.
Interior is in good shape, typical tearing of the Driver's seat. The rest of the seats are solid. (Gray Interior)
700 R4 was rebuilt right before we tore it apart approx 10,000 miles on the rebuild.
T-tops at in excellent shape.
All in All this is a beautiful car but requires someone with the time and $$$'s to get it put back together again.
I bought the car in 2000 with 34k miles. Had been a clean garaged car. It had been hit in the rear passenger-side by a truck I believe and was repaired. I never noticed any issues with the repair and would have never know if they hadn't told me and later the difference in the red paint as it faded.
In the years I owned it I did my best to keep it out of the elements but it was not always garaged. When we prepped for paint there wasn't a spot of rust on it.
Please email me at derek@offtopicphoto.com for additional pictures and information. I'd like to see this Trans Am go to a good home. This sale includes basically everything that came off the car when it was disassembled. This is a complete car.

Before it was disassembled. The Dash has since cracked.

Re: 1986 Trans Am Project $2,800
Is it really that bad that no one has any interest? Could someone on the board explain what the problem is?
I hate to get rid of this car but basically my brother and Dad got bored back in 2011 and decided to completely strip down the car while I was out of town. I unfortunately did not have a chance to participate in the project at all and I'm afraid it is way beyond my skills at this time.
My brother and Dad don't have time to mess with it and it has sat in the garage since it was painted in 2011.
What would you do?

It's a great deal, however economy sucks. It's a waiting game at this point. Try selling on eBay. Worth a shot..

Its very tough to sell a car in pieces. I tried about a year ago to do the same thing. I actually had a complete car though and about 10k in parts. I still had next to no luck. I just decided to rebuild the car myself. Its a shame you're on the other side of the country. I'd gladly help you put it back together. GLWS
