Re: Calling all 1991 and 1992 B4C's

Bought a 1991 B4C 1G1FP2380ML181472 this past weekend. It is interesting that the VIN is one ahead of i1ROADROCKET'S B4C. I think this car was in TX, but is not a DPS car as is an L98/Black Deluxe interior/power window and lock car. Let me know the dealers name who ordered your car i1ROADROCKET, if you don't mind. I wonder if these cars were ordered in batches in TX? If anyone has compnine I would like to know how many of these (L98/700R4/Black deluxe/white ext/white wheel/B4C) they show for '91....seems like many CO cars were equipped the same. Thanks.

I bought the car in October 1998 from a guy who sold ex-police vehicles when it came out of service in Hampton, NH. I literally rebuilt the entire car and sold it a year later (yeah I know!). The kid I sold the car to kept it garaged putting minimal miles on it until 2008 when he sold it to TPI-Hearse who flipped the car.

Here is the thread from when Fred had it for sale back in 2008: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...nnecticut.html

If anyone has any information about where the car is I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is a picture of the actual car:
With the help of a few people I was able to locate the B4C I sold back in 1998 which is referenced in the above post. I connected with the owner by way of a Craigslist Wanted post in the area where he lived at the beginning of 2015.

After having some discussion regarding the car, I purchased it back last Thursday. I sold this car in late 1998, 17 years later I loaded it on the trailer to bring it back home.

The amazing thing is everything I did to the car in 1998 is still on it today. The only change is the 4 tires. It will need some refreshing here and there, but the car is all there and completely rust free.

VIN: 1G1FP2380ML196909

Here it is loaded on my trailer:

Congratulations! Not as hard as you would think to find an old car if you're lucky!

I did the same thing with the 87 IROC I sold in 1989, bought it back a year ago.

Re: Calling all 1991 and 1992 B4C's

After many tedious searches I found my 92 b4c. It was my first car. Bought it in June of 92. Washed a lot of dishes to make it happen. I was trying to find it and I sort of did. Anyway here's the vin for the registry.

Interesting that document says on 7-2-13 it was sold to Hanks Auto Parts, with a disposition of SCRAP, yet on 7-19-13 it was titled with 103k miles on it.

I think I'd start with that yard. Might have been an employee, or the owner, who bought it.

In my experience, yards are very hesitant to sell cars whole once they've bought them to part out. Not as much money in it, and title headaches. So if they did agree to sell to someone, they may know or remember who it was. It's worth a shot.

Re: Calling all 1991 and 1992 B4C's

I picked up a 91 B4C today. Vin 1G1FP2389ML181471. It's an auto car that supposedly was drag raced as a DARE car after it was retired from service. It's basically a gutted roller now though. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but thought I'd add it to the list.

Was originally Artic White with dark grey interior. Previous owner was in the process of changing from grey to black. It's been repainted at least twice that I can tell, once from the factory white to MI state police blue, then to the silver it is now. Have all of the exterior parts for it and a good majority of the interior stuff. What wasn't included....I probably have stashed away.

I bought mine a couple months ago and just seen this post. Here is my vin 1G1FP23F8ML194538 mine is a 5 speed non 1LE, it has power windows, locks and the optional interior. This is the only one I have seen optioned this way.

Anyone have a break down of 5 speed non 1LE's

Dont worry, no one can scam you from your vin number or else they would not be put in plain site.

Thx.

are you sharing the VIN list somewhere? I have a 91 and a 92 trying to find info on.

I have always seen that the 305/T5 5-speed option B4C's are rarer than the auto's. Does anyone have a breakdown of the numbers?

Also adding another B4C vin to the mix:

Who is managing the database? This should be of interest to whomever it is. If no one is managing the database, I would absolutely love to have the collected information to see how many are accounted for.

Talk about stealthy. That car could fly by doing 120mph on the interstate and I still wouldnt give it a second thought.

Wow, I like it! It would look great lowered an inch with Hawks 17" GTA wheels in black... and of course, removal of the cheesy shifter and pedals. Also needs some detailing/TLC.

It'd get your attention at 150 MPH (MI State police road tested the LB9/T5 top speed).

They appear to be the OEM base seats. My 91 has the same seats.

Maybe, but I'd still just figure it's a typical RS like any other. It'd blend right in with traffic. Could be a maroon minivan for all it matters, some cars just are invisible.

Yep, they are original base package seats.
Option B18 (this car does not have) was custom interior, which IMO, had much better looking seats

What's up gang, long time no talk but I am still around and still working on this project. Currenty Comp Nine has 576 1992 B4C's in there system, I have 529. 60 away from the total published by GM. Anyway, just thought I would check in with everyone and say hi and thanks for the information over the years.

Not mine but was for sale. I had plans on going to look at it this morning but it sold. Hoping that it was bought by someone who will restore it.
It looked like a great project from the pictures. I'll post pics later

Figured this might get you one step closer to your end goal.

1G1FP2385ML196937

B4C Gov Issue with 5.7 (L98)
700R4 Automatic

125,000 Miles and still rackin em up. She has been one hell of an amazing car. Someone painted her black, badged her as a Z28 and im almost sure swapped hoods these are the only things I can see modified. I will be repainting her soon and adding some functional louvers as well as a alum rad tho here very soon. Keeping mods classy, beneficial and bare minimal. If anyone in this thread has good info on these ol gals and is willing to share it please let me know; especially if you know her history specifically or know how to track it down in better detail. I want to keep her very close to stock in appearance and build with possibly a slight stroke to 383 and some minor mods that could benefit overall performance and appeal. She is a very clean car.

Hope Yall Enjoy

This is the vin to my 92 RS B4C, Not in very good condition but still starts and sounds very good. Used to have the imprint of the state patrol sticker on the rear bumper but it was buffed off though

How do I tell if a 92 B4C/1LE car was a Texas car? Looks like the door sticker was painted over

Take to local title office with VIN and if it was initially shipped to Henna Chevrolet in Austin, then it was a Texas DPS unit.

Dang okay. It's supposed to be a Texas car that I'm looking at and the paint code on the SPID label shows black and white

Re: Calling all 1991 and 1992 B4C's

All Texas DPS 1991-1992 B4C's came like that. All they had was power rear hatch as an option and all were 5-speed 305 to engines. Check the SPID that it has B4C as one of the rpo codes.
