R7U?
I have all the rpo's on my car and one of them WILL NOT SHOW UP!
(R seven U R7U)
I found 1LE etched into my LCA's but not on the RPO'S and my car did come with air but they said the car was a dealers personal driver, and he put it on (I went to the dealer and talked to his son) . So what the hell does R7U mean?

If I'm not mistaken, it's something like a Canadian 1LE car, for the Player's cup series or some such thing.

R7U is the RPO for Control Sales Item 45. It has been used for most GM products over the years. You can find it on Caprices and Corvettes..
What the heck it means, I have no idea.. It only means something to the assembly plant. I've even asked GM dealers and parts guys, and they don't know either.
There are a bunch of these strange R7x codes.. My car has R7U, which is control sales item 35..

Car: Death Mobile

I agree with GTAJim, that it had something to do with sales processing office. I have an R7G. I suspect it related to the ultimate destination that the car was sent to for sale.
It is definitely not an RPO related to some specific option on the car.

There's a Corvette RPO page that lists what the R7x codes are.. It's at http://www.lightstream.net/~rottie/1996RPOlisting.htm Despite being for Corvette, the R7x codes apply to all GM's
Also.. if you use a search engine, you can enter 'RPO' and 'R7K' and see that it pops up in the RPO codes of quite a few cars over several years..

Mateo,
I asked around about the R7U RPO. Some of the guys from 1LE.net threw some interesting facts about these cars. Forgive me, I'm don't have the emails in front of me. The BIG thing that stood out was they had mentioned that the car's engines were blueprinted and even had special marking on certain parts to guard against tampering. If this engine work was done at the factory or was done after the fact, I'm not sure. When I get into work tomorrow, I will dig up those emails and post more info on the R7U.

Thanks man I knew there was something about my car it has a 305 but I can beat just about any mildly modded 350TPI and I know I'm not supposed to be able to do that right?
BTW all I had for mods on the car were K&N filters *100HP* hehe
and MSD ignition 6AL thats it.

Do you really have an R7U car? In the USA?
Very odd ... I have GM paper work that identifies R7U, and the option codes that make it up. It was a package put together in 1989 to standardize the players challenge cars.
IT make sense that GM in the US would adopt these cars for firehawk races as these were proven cars.
It makes me wonder how many R7U cars were made in the US.
Send me an email ... I'd like to explore the history of your car a bit more ... very interesting indeed.
Mark.

Well Mark - you are definitley the expert! I got your e-mail yesterday and went home to double check the car and it isn't R7U - it's B4C. I am sorry for the confusion...it's been a long time since I ran my RPO codes.
In any event, MATEOZ28 - you've got a rare car and Mark is definitely the expert on the Player's Challenge cars (R7U) - I'm sure he'd be glad to answer any questions you might have.
