I guess the takeaway is that the correct parts are out there, we just have to find who has and sells them.

How about trying to convince a company like Hawks or Classic to stock them?

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

Okay, here's where we're at. We need to determine the EXACT sizes needed for both the top and bottom hoses. Then I can give that to the sales person I'm dealing with over there, and then he can do a search of who bought those particular sizes from the manufacturer and then hopefully we can contact them about purchasing them.

He sent me a file to choose the sizes, but I'm having a hard time posting it here.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

The sizes are listed in my GM parts book, hang on.
edit:
from the 82-89 GM parts book
52.4 to 77mm x2 upper hose
52.4 to 77mm x1 lower rad hose
33.3 to 57.2mm x1 water pump outlet

I think this is a miss print because I just did my 89 formula and 3 are the smaller ones and the waterpump outlet is the big one.
Better get a second opinion

I don't see an exact dimension here.

BTW, I couldn't post it here, so I printed the file, took a pic with my cell phone, emailed it to myself, downloaded it and hosted it on photobucket. Whew!

Well this maybe a longshot... if someone would find a supplier that could supply the correct size and style clamps, I may be able to flip the bill. I would be ready to resell them at cost plus shipping. I just want to know how much I would be in for.

They gave me a price breakdown depending on volume. I'll find that later to night and post it.

What are the exact sizes? I am assuming I will go through Murrays. I will try to contact them tomorrow if I can get the correct info.

They will need the EXACT dimensions to either manufacture a batch or refer us to someone that they have manufactured the EXACT ones for.

I was hoping to have someone get ME the exact dimension for the clamp. I just checked my car, and since its a 91, I have the spring clamps on it. I guess I could send them one of those, but I would hate to be ordering 500 clamps that are the wrong size.

I hope I didn't miss it if it was mentioned earlier, is there any chance that you could ask them to send some samples before ordering? Not only to verify the size but also to make sure the quality is acceptable.

Bad Thing Is The Clamps Are Not All The Same Diameter,When I Changed My Upper Radiator Hose Last Year I Had The Two Clamps Side By Side And The Radiator End Clamp Is Smaller Than The Thermostat Housing End Clamp. The Bottom Hose Clamps , I'm Not Sure Of,I Haven't Had Them Off To Compare.

The top ones on my 2 cars are the same and so is the rad side of the lower hose. The waterpump outlet is the big one.

I contacted Murrays today, they CANNOT supply a sample and they can not guarantee the fitment or quality if I order. So if I order 500 and they are wrong, I'm stuck with them. I really wanted to help out, but I am not willing to chance it if they are wrong. Sorry.

They told me that if I could get the EXACT dimensions, they'd refer me to whoever has them.

If that's the case, I wouldn't either. I know it wouldn't make much of a difference but I was thinking of grabbing a few if it worked out.
Thanks for trying.

Want to take a crack at this again.

Can anyone confirm in inches what the upper radiator hose clamps should be. 2"???

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

2" is too big. At least it's too big for the 87 Iroc 5.7L I've been working on lately.
The stock radiator or rather direct OE replacements list the inlet as 1 5/16" and the outlet as 1 9/16". Add the thickness of the rad hose (say 1/4-3/8") and you've got 1 9/16 - 1 11/16" for the inlet, and 1 13/16 - 1 15/16" for the outlet. Convert from fractional to decimal and that's 1.5625 - 1.6875" for the inlet, and 1.8125 - 1.9375" for the outlet. Those numbers should come close to your open diameter. Referencing the Murray chart, it looks like a 52 or maybe 53 on the inlet, and a 62 on the outlet should be about right. Of course all of the above is just an educated guess. It's too bad a person can't get a couple and see if they're the right size.

I went through my stash hunting for factory wire clamps a month or two ago. I came up one small clamp short of being able to switch my Iroc from aftermarket worm gear clamps back to the factory wire style. Most of the clamps I've salvaged are way too big.

PS, anyone got a line on the tower clamps for the throttle body coolant hose? I've got a bunch on the Mustang that are darn close, but I want to say they're stamped with the Ford logo.

Charlie are these the style clamps you speak of? If so I would be willing to take some measurements for you bud.

Those are them, Arnold. Thanks.

But I'm not sure how you measure them.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

Those are the clamps in question, but I'm not sure how accurately a person can measure them. I've literally got a bucket of them sitting here on my desk. If you run the screw open/closed there's a little more than 1/4" of difference, but they don't exactly tighten down round without being wrapped around a hose. Likewise they take a set. After 30 years you can back the screw all the way out and the clamp won't expand much more than an 1/8" from fully closed, without forcefully holding the wire against the screw. Again, they take a set, and can stretch if over tightened, so are measurements really accurate?

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

The smallest classic Mustang clamp (#62) is still too big by at least 1/16" to fit the radiator inlet/water neck. Assuming that the radiator outlet is really 1 9/16", the #62 might fit there. I know the water pump port is larger, but I haven't measured it.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

I'm sure it's been mentioned already in the thread, but the GM part numbers apply to replacement worm gear hose clamps. You can Google image search the part numbers and see they're worm gear clamps. It makes sense, because the worm gear clamps have a wider adjustment range than the wire clamps, meaning a service department, parts dept, etc doesn't have to keep as much product on the shelf.

Gates lists the upper rad hose as 1.25" inside diameter on both ends, and the lower rad hose as 1.5" i.d. on one end, 1.75" i.d. on the other. Add 1/4-3/8" to account for the thickness of the hose, and you should be pretty close to an accurate dimension of the required clamps.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

These are the part numbers, circa 1986 for the wire clamps used on the LB9.

Thermostat housing - 10013037
Upper Radiator - 10013037
Water Pump - 9419825
Lower Radiator - 1610793

For what it's worth. I couldn't find any references to these part numbers with Google or on Ebay, but maybe they'll help somehow.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

Working on my water pump replacement on my 92, which as said before uses the spring style clamps . . I used / need 3 different sizes . .

Upper and lower hose to radiator uses 42 mm clamp
Upper hose to thermostat housing used a 47 mm clamp
Lower hose to water pump, is evading me . . 50 mm is way too small, so attempting a 60 mm when it arrives . .

Not sure if that is helping in your venture Charlie!

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

The other day I poked my head under the hood of my 1986 Mustang and noticed it has/had the same wire radiator hose clamps on the lower hose. I will have to see how they measure up to the GM TPI clamps the next time I have it apart. Might be another source for the junkyard scavengers. It's also possible the hose and clamps (theyre still stapled on the hoses) might have come from the engine donor 1986 Thunderbird Turbocoupe.

A lot of the mustangs had the clamp stapled to the hoses. Nifty idea

Was able to finish the water pump replacement on my 92 . . .

The water pump outlet worked perfect with the 60 mm clamp . . the OD of that end of the AC Delco hose was 2 1/8".

So from personal hands on farting around, the final numbers are:

Upper and lower hose to radiator uses 42 mm clamp
Which from Rotor Clip catalog has a 37.2 mm (1 1/2") free diameter and a max open of 44.5 mm (1 3/4")
Upper hose to thermostat housing used a 47 mm clamp
Which from Rotor Clip catalog has a 41.4 mm (1 5/8") free diameter and a max open of 50.0 mm (2")
Lower hose to water pump used a 60 mm clamp
Which from math calcs should have a ~51.6 mm (2 1/32") free diameter and a max open of ~63.1 mm (2 1/2")

Those are my final installed clamp sizes . . I am still very perplexed on the clamp size problem I ran into, especially after I got two full sets of take off clamps from Camaros . . . one set came with (2)42, (1)47 and (1)50, the other (2)42 and (2)50 . . . oh well . . the car is back together!

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

So, I liberated my original hose clamps from my '83 before I sent it off to Germany, with the expressed purpose of using them on my '85. I cleaned them up and made them look like new. I took off the newer style clamp off my '85 in order to replace it with the OEM one. I tightened it down all the way as far as it could go and it was too loose.

What gives?

Did I somehow stretch them?

No, the earlier car just used a larger diameter clamp.

The thermostat housing on the early carbed cars, and apparently CFI cars, were 1.5". TPI cars are 1.25". There isn't enough adjustment in the wire clamps to make up the difference.

Re: Anyone Have a Part Number For These Factory Radiator Hose Clamps?

Has anyone found any additional info on the Double Wire Hose Clamps. Ebay has Murray Double Wire 1" - 2" size Clamps. From the size given so far, looks like 1 1/2" to 2" would work for the Radiator Hoses.

If anyone has bought these and has the correct size that will work, please share.

At this Point, I am thinking on just buying some of the 1 1/2" to 2" and see if they fit. I just wish I had an Original set as a guide.

Let me know if anyone has any updated info.

Thanks
